ABC viewers couldn\u2019t help but notice Joy Behar<\/strong><\/a> leaving the table on The View<\/em><\/a> during an interview with Carrie Underwood<\/strong><\/a>, which came a year after the daytime host criticized the singer\u2019s performance at Donald Trump<\/strong>\u2018s second presidential inauguration.<\/a><\/p>\n

During the Tuesday, March 24, episode of The View<\/em>, American Idol<\/em><\/a>\u2018s Underwood, 43, Lionel Richie <\/strong>and Luke Bryan<\/strong> were in attendance for an interview. Behar, 84, who was on the show earlier in the episode, left the table alongside colleague Sara Haines<\/strong> and only returned after the interview was wrapped up.<\/p>\n

The View<\/em> panelists have previously opted out of certain interviews to allow for guests to have more room at the table. A source told Us Weekly<\/em> that the move was a \u201cproduction decision\u201d as a result of three interview subjects being seated at the table with the cohosts. <\/a>(With guest\u00a0cohost Abby Huntsman<\/strong> being a superfan of the show, it made sense for her to be included in the interview.)<\/p>\n

Viewers, however, couldn\u2019t help but notice<\/a> that Behar narrowly avoided a run-in with Underwood over a year after publicly calling out Underwood\u2019s decision to perform at Trump\u2019s inauguration in January 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wouldn\u2019t do it \u2014 even though I cannot sing,\u201d Behar said at the time. \u201cI would not normalize him. She says, \u2018I love our country.\u2019 How do you love your country and support and normalize somebody who was a convicted felon, who really wants to destroy the country, in my opinion?\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cI don\u2019t understand how you say you love your country at the same time as you normalize this convicted felon. \u2026 OK, fine. And I would not be the person to say don\u2019t do it because I believe in free speech and everything about it. I personally would not do it. No one\u2019s asked me, but that\u2019s another story.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alyssa Farah Griffin<\/strong>, meanwhile, called Underwood\u2019s choice<\/a> a smart business move.<\/p>\n

\u201cSeventy-five million people voted for Trump. Artists tend to skew left-leaning,\u201d she said. \u201cSo she\u2019s overnight going to become an icon of MAGA and the American right. She\u2019s probably gonna make a lot of money off of it. So I get why she did it.\u201d<\/p>\n

While some A-list beefs seem inevitable \u2014 Nicki Minaj vs. Cardi B, for example, or Jef Holm vs. Arie Luyendyk Jr. \u2014 others seem to come out of nowhere. Freddie Prinze Jr., for instance, spoke ill [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Griffin, 36, went on to defend Underwood. \u201cI personally hope we\u2019re moving beyond the era of politics where we want to cancel people\u2019s livelihood because we don\u2019t like their politics,\u201d she concluded. \u201cIf you have a problem, you register your complaint by not downloading her songs and not going to her shows.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elisabeth Hasselbeck<\/strong> later took to social media to slam Behar\u2019s comments.<\/a><\/p>\n
