All eyes will be on Wesley Evers and Angela Lopez as The Rookie<\/em><\/a>\u2019s race for district attorney heats up next week.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is kind of almost a culmination of a pretty intense story line for both these characters, the DA race,\u201d Shawn Ashmore<\/strong><\/a>, who plays attorney Wesley, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> on Tuesday, March 17.<\/p>\n

Ashmore, 46, noted that the Monday, March 23, episode titled \u201cSpy Games\u201d will highlight Wesley\u2019s road to becoming DA of Los Angeles two days before the election. During that time frame, he and wife Angela (Alyssa Diaz<\/strong><\/a>) will have to stand together against two former foes that could tear them down.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou get to see both characters sweat a little bit,\u201d Ashmore teased, revealing that one guest star is someone close to Wesley while the other is a villain with a personal connection to Angela.<\/p>\n

The actor told Us<\/em> <\/a>fans will see how Wesley and Angela \u201cinteract together as a couple with that pressure.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ashmore noted that as always, the couple are a \u201cteam\u201d and they both \u201cjump to action and are there for each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to ABC, the upcoming episode is about the FBI and LAPD joining forces on \u201ca covert sting operation to protect Bailey [played by Jenna Dewan<\/strong><\/a>], while Wesley and Angela face tensions in their marriage when his campaign is threatened by a public scandal.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I love about this episode<\/a> is it lets the audience in on their relationship in a kind of a fun way,\u201d Ashmore told Us<\/em>. \u201cIt sort of focuses on this moment in time for them, this culmination of the DA race. And it also harkens back and brings some elements from the past, some sort of challenging things and brings that to the forefront.\u201d<\/p>\n

Diaz, 40, exclusively told Us<\/em> that viewers will see Angela rising up in the face of adversity to support her spouse \u2014 even when tested.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe has to stay strong, because this is her husband. This is the father of her children,\u201d Diaz said. \u201cHe\u2019s in a very intense situation with a lot of eyes on him, and she can\u2019t show any weakness.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOfficer John Nolan and the rest of the LAPD have weathered many storms during season 7 of The Rookie \u2014 but their problems are nowhere near over, according to Nathan Fillion. \u201cWe\u2019re bringing back Bridget [Regan] as Monica,\u201d Fillion, 53, exclusively told Us Weekly, hinting that the corrupt attorney has not changed her ways. Fillion, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The actress added that when an old foe comes back into their lives and makes an allegation about Wesley\u2019s past, Angela has to show a \u201cstrong face\u201d knowing that the villain \u201chas a tendency to B.S.\u201d<\/p>\n

Diaz played coy about who was trying to hurt Wesley and Angela\u2019s romance, hinting the detective will \u201cnot let him get under her skin, especially in this really important moment for Wesley.\u201d<\/p>\n
