\t\t<\/p>\n Caitriona Balfe<\/strong><\/a> is reflecting on what it was like to make the eighth and final season of Outlander<\/strong><\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n The Starz series based on Diana Gabaldon<\/strong>\u2018s book series premiered in 2014 and will officially wrap in May with the series finale. <\/p>\n Caitriona<\/strong>, who plays series lead Claire Fraser, tells People<\/a><\/em> that filming season 8 was \u201can emotionally taxing nine months.\u201d<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n She and co-star Sam Heughan<\/strong><\/a>, who plays Jaime Fraser, \u201cfelt so much responsibility to make it right, and everything felt heightened.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt was an emotionally taxing nine months,\u201d she says of filming.<\/p>\n \u201cWe all went and did something right after,\u201d Caitriona<\/strong> says regarding what the cast did after they wrapped and their need to decompress.<\/p>\n \u201cI went off and did a retreat, and [Heughan<\/strong>] went and climbed the Himalayas,\u201d the Belfast star reveals. \u201cSophie [Skelton]<\/strong> went to Africa, Richard [Rankin]<\/strong> learned how to fly. I think we all had that initial \u2026 I wouldn\u2019t say exorcist, but it\u2019s like that [process] of releasing it.\u201d<\/p>\n In short, they all needed to take some time off.<\/p>\n \u201cBecause I think you do \u2014 well, at least for me, I\u2019ll speak for myself \u2014 but I wanted to process it and I wanted to honor the experience of the character by letting it go, in a healthy way,\u201d she shared. \u201cI don\u2019t know, I think you can maybe make yourself a bit mad sometimes if you don\u2019t sit in the experience for a while.\u201d<\/p>\n Keep up with every show coming to an end in 2026<\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n
