The professional athlete, 41, shared a brutal video of her injured leg on Friday, March 13, following her 2026 Winter Olympics crash that resulted in multiple surgeries earlier this year. In the clip shared via Vonn\u2019s Instagram [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\u201cIt has been quite the journey and by far the most extreme and painful and challenging injury I have ever faced in my entire life times a hundred,\u201d she wrote via Instagram on February 23.<\/p>\n

Vonn went on to thank Dr. Tom Hackett<\/strong>, who she said \u201csaved my leg.\u201d<\/p>\n\u201cHe saved my leg from being amputated,\u201d she said. \u201cHe did what\u2019s called a fasciotomy, where he cut open both sides of my leg and kind of filleted it open so to speak, let it breathe, and he saved me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Vonn continued, \u201cI always talk about [how] everything happens for a reason, but if I hadn\u2019t torn my ACL, which I would have torn anyway with this crash, if I hadn\u2019t done that, Tom wouldn\u2019t have been there. He wouldn\u2019t have been able to save my leg, so I feel very lucky and grateful for him, for the six hour surgery he put in on Wednesday to rebuild it, which went amazingly well.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
