Michelle Pfeiffer<\/a> in the series, playing Preston, the late husband of Pfeiffer\u2019s character Stacy. <\/p>\nThe show follows Stacy after Preston\u2019s death in the opening episode, prompting her to leave her home and relocate to Montana, where she reconnects with a life her husband had valued. <\/p>\n
Speaking to Men\u2019s Health, Kurt said the relationship portrayed in the series mirrors conversations he has had with Goldie, with whom he has been in a relationship since 1983. <\/p>\n
He said: \u201cSome of the conversations that (Preston and Stacy) have, I\u2019ve had.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cGoldie and I have had very similar conversations.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cTheir relationship, it’s the kind of relationship you almost never see anymore. It’s a truly loving relationship. It\u2018s not like there\u2019s another shoe to drop. That’s what makes it so difficult for (Michelle\u2018s) character when she loses her husband.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cShe\u2019s realising how much more they could have had that they didn\u2019t have because of something she didn’t do.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI think a lot of people relate to that kind of regret.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAs you get older and you’ve only got so much time left, that doubles things up in terms of looking at what you\u2019ve done in your life so far and what you want to do with the rest of your life.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nKurt also described similarities between his character\u2019s connection to place and his own experiences, referencing his move to Colorado earlier in life.<\/p>\n
\nKurt said: \u201cI moved to Colorado when I was 26 years old. At a certain point, you find yourself asking whether you\u2019re going to live the life you want to live, or if you\u2019re just going to talk about it.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd I decided to make the move and live the life I wanted to live.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cBut my business was still primarily out of Los Angeles, so my life\u2019s been split, going back and forth.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI\u2019m glad I did what I did. I’ve enjoyed my life the way I\u2019ve wanted to and I’ve been able to continue on in the business too. I was able to make that happen.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nGoldie has previously spoken about her relationship with Kurt, including his role in her children\u2019s lives. <\/p>\n
\nShe shares children Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson with Bill Hudson, and Wyatt Russell with Kurt.<\/p>\n
\nGoldie added: \u201cWhat really got me was when I watched my kids when they\u2019d come to the set and how he was with them.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cHe was amazing with them. He was such a natural.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe Madison is available to stream on Paramount+, with further episodes scheduled for release on 21 March.<\/p>\n
