Ringo Starr<\/a>. He was in a film that I was doing and I wasn\u2019t in that day and the director told me, \u2018By the way we\u2019ve managed to get Ringo Starr to come in and do a cameo. It\u2019s this day.\u2019 I was like, \u2018F****** hell, I\u2019m not in that day.\u2019 But I thought I\u2019m turning up, I\u2019m just going to sit around and watch Ringo Starr do whatever he does. This was in California. <\/p>\n\n“Obviously my kids are called Harrison and Jude, and wherever I go it\u2019s a known fact that Buckley likes The Beatles, I must bang on about it. I think at one point the director went up to Ringo Starr and went, \u2018James is here and he\u2019s British.\u2019 I think that\u2019s all he said. I just wanted to be in the same room as him, I didn\u2019t approach him or anything like that, and at one point it was like \u2018Right, let\u2019s take five, let\u2019s have a five minute break and then we\u2019ll get back into it.\u2019 And he just walked up to me and went, \u2018How\u2019s it going brother?\u2019 I went, \u2018Good, thank you Ringo Starr, good.\u2019 Then I said, \u2018Oh, listen, my kids names are Harrison and Jude, I\u2019m such a huge fan.\u2019 And Ringo was just well up for chatting about it.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI was a bit like, f***ing hell the last thing this geezer wants to talk about is The Beatles, probably. But he absolutely loved it.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThere was a bit when I was like, \u2018I bet you don\u2019t want to talk about The Beatles do you? I imagine it\u2019s a bit annoying.\u2019<\/p>\n
\nHe was just like, \u2018Listen, I was in my 20s, I was in the biggest band in the world, I travelled the world, girls absolutely loved me, it was f****** amazing, it was absolutely amazing. I don\u2019t mind talking about it all, whatsoever.\u2019<\/p>\n
\n\u201cSo I just ended up asking him loads of questions. I was like, \u2018When you were recording this I heard this rumour\u2026\u2019 And he was like, \u2018That\u2019s not true.\u2019 Pretty much everything wasn\u2019t true, everything was lore.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nJames, 38, says there isn\u2019t a day that goes by that fans don\u2019t want to speak to him about him playing Jay Cartwright in The Inbetweeners and he has a lot of respect for Ringo, 85, for being happy to indulge people about his life in The Beatles 60 years ago rather than be dismissive of it.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cHe summed it up to me and it\u2019s the same way I feel about The Inbetweeners.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThe Inbetweeners was such a great time in my life which is why I don\u2019t mind talking about it and I\u2019m still proud of it.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cLook, I\u2019m not going to compare The Inbetweeners to The Beatles by any measure, but I don\u2019t mind talking about The Inbetweeners.\u201d<\/p>\n
