Carmen Electra is giving her seal of approval to the casting announcements for the new Baywatch series<\/p>\n
Fox confirmed earlier this month that Brooks, 29, has joined the cast of the network\u2019s upcoming Baywatch sequel series, set to premiere during the 2026\u20132027 season. <\/p>\n
Carmen, who became a global pop\u2011culture icon as lifeguard Lani McKenzie in the original series, was asked whether she believes Brooks will fit naturally into the world of Baywatch, and didn\u2019t hesitate.<\/p>\n
She told People: “I do. Absolutely. Yeah.”<\/p>\n
Brooks will play Selene, the sharp\u2011tongued captain of the Zuma Beach lifeguards. <\/p>\n
\nAccording to the official character description, Selene is exceptional at her job but constantly clashes with Hobie over their very different approaches to saving lives. Their long\u2011running rivalry only intensifies once Charlie joins the team, hinting at deeper tensions beneath the surface.<\/p>\n
\nCarmen also praised the return of original cast member David Chokachi, calling his casting \u201cwell\u2011deserved.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nThe 58-year-old star will reprise his role as Cody Madison from the original 1989\u20132001 run.<\/p>\n
\nThe reboot centres on a grown\u2011up Hobie Buchannon \u2014 now played by Stephen Amell \u2014 who has followed in the footsteps of his legendary father Mitch (David Hasselhoff) to become Baywatch captain. His life is thrown into chaos when Charlie, the daughter he never knew existed, arrives determined to carry on the Buchannon legacy.<\/p>\n
\nBrooks celebrated her casting by reposting a photo of herself in a Baywatch\u2011inspired red one\u2011piece from her 2023 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover shoot, writing: \u201cI\u2019ve been manifesting this for a minute @si_swimsuit.\u201d She joins a star\u2011studded ensemble that includes Jessica Belkin, Hassie Harrison, Thaddeus LaGrone, Shay Mitchell, Noah Beck and Livvy Dunne.<\/p>\n
\nFox first announced the revival in September 2025, promising the same high\u2011stakes rescues, sun\u2011drenched drama and tangled relationships that defined the original series \u2014 now updated with a new cast, modern storylines and a renewed mission to protect Southern California\u2019s shoreline.<\/p>\n
\nCarmen has previously said she\u2019s open to returning, revealing last year that she had been \u201ctalking to\u201d the reboot\u2019s creative team. <\/p>\n
\nShe joked that while she\u2019s not sure she wants to get back in the water, she\u2019s more than ready to recreate the show\u2019s iconic slow\u2011motion run. <\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cI still look really good in that suit, so that is not a problem.”<\/p>\n
