Sydney Chandler has followed her father Kyle Chandler into the acting profession<\/p>\n
The 30-year-old star has confessed that she felt a sense of trepidation about informing her father – whose credits include Friday Night Lights – that she had caught the performing bug.<\/p>\n
Sydney told People: “I mean, he always said, ‘This is the last job we want.’ And I never wanted to act. I went to school to study poetry.<\/p>\n
“Never really liked being in front of people, quite introverted. And then I ended up taking an acting class, kind of an a whim, and something… And I was terrified to tell my dad that I wanted to do it.”<\/p>\n
The Alien: Earth actress continued: “And so, I kind of kept that under the radar until I was picking up a little bit. And then I was like, ‘Oh, hey, I’m trying this now.’ <\/p>\n
\n“But he’s been really, really helpful now being in it, especially trying to figure out the business and how it works.”<\/p>\n
\nSydney explained how she looks up to her father and his laidback approach to life.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: “My dad is so grounded.<\/p>\n
\n“He lives in Wrangler jeans and rides his tractor and feeds our miniature donkeys. He’s just a good, solid human. So to be able to look up to someone like him is so helpful. It helps me stay grounded in the present.”<\/p>\n
\nSydney explained how she was still learning about the industry after she wasn’t featured in a Variety cover shoot for Alien: Earth last year after she declined the chance to take part in a game of How Well Do They Know Each Other? with her co-stars.<\/p>\n
\nThe Pistol star told Entertainment Weekly: “It was really unfortunate. I really wanted to be there for the photo shoot, and I was ready to talk anything and everything Alien.<\/p>\n
\n“I did not know at the time it was a dealbreaker, to (not) do a game and personal question thing. Again, new to this; I haven’t done something like that before. I felt uncomfortable doing something like that.<\/p>\n
\n“Unfortunately, I was uninvited from the rest of the shoot. I never meant to offend.”<\/p>\n
\nChandler continued: “I’m figuring this world out. I’m figuring out how much of my personal self I need to give, I want to give, I feel comfortable giving. It’s a really personal journey.<\/p>\n
\n“So I’m learning a heck of a lot on this press tour. Once this is completed, I’ll have a bit of a foundation and be able to go from there.”<\/p>\n
