Harry Styles addresses queerbaiting criticism by kissing SNL star Ben Marshall<\/p>\n
The 32-year-old singer \u2013 who was host and musical guest for Saturday\u2019s (14.03.26) show – addressed criticism that he has indulged in \u201cqueerbaiting\u201d, which the Oxford English dictionary describes as \u201cthe practice of trying to attract LGBTQ+ audiences or customers in a deceptive or superficial way\u201d.<\/p>\n
Harry said: \u201cPeople seemed to pay a lot of attention to the clothes I was wearing and some people accused me of something called \u2018queerbaiting.\u2019 But did it ever occur to you: You don\u2019t know everything about me, Dad! I ran it past him, he was fine with it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Harry insisted that any confusion comes from his love of kissing. <\/p>\n
He went on: \u201cWhat\u2019s better than kissing all the time? Which I don\u2019t actually do – I don\u2019t kiss all the time. Sometimes, kissing can be great, you know, if you\u2019re really good at it, and you\u2019re a good person.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nAs Marshall appeared on stage, Styles continued: \u201cOr if you have a tight little bum. C\u2019mon, Ben, everyone knows there\u2019s nothing little about that thang. You\u2019re holding damn wagon back there.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHe added: \u201cWhatever, come here,\u201d before leaning in for a kiss with Marshall and telling the audience: \u201cNow that\u2019s queerbaiting.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nDuring his opening monologue, Harry also addressed speculation about the sexual meaning in his songs and insisted he just really \u201clikes sex\u201d.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cI finished my last tour in 2023, and after that I took a bunch of time off. I\u2019d spent half my life in music, touring, creating albums and making songs about fruit that people think are about sex. I just really like fruit, guys. I like sex too.<\/p>\n
\nSo, when you\u2019re on holiday, it\u2019s like five in the afternoon, you\u2019re all covered in sand, you and your partner are all sweaty and hot, and you stumble back to the room and you just wanna\u2026 papaya.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nAnd, Harry told the audience how he used AI to come up with the title for his new album Kiss All The Time, Disco Occasionally.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cI did a prompt on ChatGPT that said, \u2018Give me the most Italian phrase to ever exist,\u2019 and it came back with Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally.\u201d<\/p>\n
