Olivia Munn<\/strong> <\/a>is sharing the best advice she received from the late Shannen Doherty<\/strong><\/a> as they both battled cancer.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the Los Angeles Magazine\u2019s<\/em> The L.A. Woman Luncheon at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Friday, March 13, Munn, 45, said Doherty told her to be \u201caggressive\u201d after she received her diagnosis.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe said to me having gone through this \u2026 she said just be so aggressive,\u201d Munn explained, per Page Six<\/em>. <\/a><\/p>\n

The actress added that she is fortunate to have the \u201copportunity to fight\u201d when that chance isn\u2019t afforded to many women struggling with similar health issues.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\u00a0 Shannen Doherty will always be remembered as someone who lent a helping hand to fellow celeb breast cancer patients. Through the years, the former Beverly Hills, 90210, star candidly shared her cancer battle with the public, which began when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. Doherty went into remission in 2017, but [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Doherty died on July 13, 2024<\/a> after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was 53. The Charmed<\/em> alum was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, ultimately going into remission. By 2020, the illness had recurred and later spread to her bones.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease,\u201d Doherty\u2019s publicist Leslie Sloane<\/strong> said in a statement to Us Weekly<\/em> at the time. \u201cThe devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie. The family asks for their privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Munn has been candid about her own cancer journey<\/a> after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2023. She had a double mastectomy a month later as the first of several surgeries, including a reconstruction surgery.<\/p>\n

Munn publicly revealed her diagnosis via a lengthy Instagram post<\/a> shared in March 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cSurprisingly, I\u2019ve only cried twice. I guess I haven\u2019t felt like there was time to cry. My focus narrowed and I tabled any emotions that I felt would interfere with my ability to stay clearheaded,\u201d she wrote at the time.<\/p>\n

Explaining that she chose to keep her health battle under wraps in order \u201cto get through some of the hardest parts before sharing,\u201d she went on to explain that she, \u201cwent from feeling completely fine one day, to waking up in a hospital bed after a 10-hour surgery the next.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following Doherty\u2019s death in July 2024, Munn revealed she was \u201cabsolutely heartbroken\u201d<\/a> over the loss.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I was first diagnosed with breast cancer, I remembered how she bravely let the world into her journey and [I] reached out to her,\u201d Munn wrote via her Instagram Story at the time. \u201cWe became instant friends \u2014 which I honestly couldn\u2019t comprehend at times because watching her on [Beverly Hills,] 90210 was everything to me when I was 10.\u201d<\/p>\n
