Shane Warne<\/a> died suddenly, while Ed was also embroiled in a legal dispute over his song Shape Of You. <\/p>\nAfter Cherry and Ed welcomed their daughter Jupiter, Cherry underwent surgery to remove the tumour.<\/p>\n
\nSpeaking about the period during an episode of the Friends Keep Secrets podcast, Ed described the moment he received the call from Cherry. <\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cThe day Cherry rung me up and said that she had cancer, that was probably one of the worst days.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nEd added: \u201cThat was probably the worst week because Jamal died that week as well and then we went straight into the court case. And then Shane died.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nBut he said: \u201cShe’s fine, I mean she had the operation. She was pregnant at the time so that’s why it was difficult.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cShe had the operation to remove the tumour after she’d given birth to our second child. Thankfully, touch wood, totally fine.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nEd spoke on the podcast alongside Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky and Kristin Batalucco.<\/p>\n
\nWhen Cherry first sought medical help, she was initially told by a doctor \u201cthis is really bad\u201d and that she had cancer. <\/p>\n
\nCherry immediately called Ed and told him to cancel his plans while the couple waited for the results of further tests.<\/p>\n
\nDoctors told Cherry treatment options would not work while she was pregnant. <\/p>\n
\nAfter a sequencing test was carried out on the tumour, the couple were told it was less severe than initially feared and that surgery could take place after she had given birth.<\/p>\n
\nCherry later spoke about the experience in Ed\u2019s Ed Sheeran: The Sum of It All on Disney+. <\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cIt was the most incredible news. I nearly threw up when the surgeon told us we could wait to the end of the pregnancy to get the tumour out.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cWe didn’t have to worry about delivering the baby early.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nEd and Cherry announced the arrival of their daughter Jupiter in May 2022. <\/p>\n
\nThe couple are also parents to their daughter Lyra, four.<\/p>\n
\nIn the documentary, Cherry described attending a follow-up scan months after the operation and waiting anxiously for the results. <\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cYesterday I had follow up scan in my arm to see if the tumour had come back. We were silent in the car as we were worried it would be bad.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIt was super triggering being in the same room when things weren’t so positive at the start of the year. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cThe surgeon looked at the scans and it all looks good. The lymph nodes have all calmed down. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cThat was amazing. It was massive for us.\u201d<\/p>\n
