The 65-year-old author received the heartbreaking diagnosis in February following a routine mammogram before Christmas 2025.<\/p>\n
Jane took to Instagram on Thursday (12.03.26) and penned: “So… I thought I should post something as I\u2019ve had a few people notice I\u2019ve been a bit quiet on here lately.<\/p>\n
“About a month ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer – very early stage thankfully + the prognosis is excellent. I had a routine mammogram a week before Christmas. I had no symptoms but the brilliant radiographer spotted something iffy + sent me for further tests + eventually a biopsy.<\/p>\n
“Since then I\u2019ve had more mammograms, more biopsies and an MRI so they can pinpoint the problem area precisely. (sic)”<\/p>\n
\nThe TV producer cannot wait for her surgery – which is scheduled for a fortnight’s time – and she praised the medical staff\u2019s care.<\/p>\n
\nJane ended her post with: “It\u2019s been a lot, I\u2019m not going to lie. But, my surgery is scheduled for the week after next and I just want to get it over with now. <\/p>\n
\n“I\u2019m getting incredible care and all will be fine but I\u2019m not engaging with much beyond audiobooks + jigsaws tbh. Dr Eric on duty. Nurse Pickle wondering when lunch is. (sic)”<\/p>\n
\nJane was bombarded with love in the upload’s comments section.<\/p>\n
\nActress Kate Robbins, 67 – whose daughter is 36-year-old Rivals star Emily Atack – typed: “Caught early is KEY. Thanks for letting us know \u2026 Sending love xxxxx (sic).”<\/p>\n
\nComedienne Dawn French, 68, left a string of heart emojis, as did 49-year-old comic Alan Carr.<\/p>\n
\nAnd soap actress Lucy Benjamin, 55, wrote: “Sending love and strength Jane.”<\/p>\n
\nJane’s followers also left well-wishes as one person commented: “Sending you so much love and keeping you and good energy in my thoughts.”<\/p>\n
\nA second supporter left: “Oh mate. Sending you all our love and positive vibes. Xx (sic)”<\/p>\n
\nAnd a third user reacted: “Oh I\u2019m glad they caught it early. Sending you lots of love and hugs. Take time to relax and chill out. You\u2019ll have the best nurses with Ricky and Pickle looking after you. (sic)”<\/p>\n
\nJane and Ricky have been in a long relationship since they first met as students at University College London back in 1982, and moved in together two years later.<\/p>\n
\nAnd she credits their strong bond to never wanting “exactly the same thing” in terms of their careers, which meant there was no jealousy even as she started to move up the ranks in TV production before he found success as a comedian.<\/p>\n
\nAppearing on a January episode of the Second Act podcast, Jane said: “He was just always really pleased for me because I wasn’t raining on his parade. And I was helping us get out of the [financial] ditch we were in.<\/p>\n
\nShe added: “We did want to do totally different things, and also, with what happened to him, it was really helpful what my career had been because he wasn’t entering this alien, glamorous world.<\/p>\n
\n“I knew that TV was a really hard slog, and it wasn’t all people running around having parties and having fun. You work long hours, and I understand the process.”<\/p>\n
