Kacey Musgraves<\/strong><\/a> is finally addressing her feud with Miranda Lambert<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n If you didn\u2019t know, the two country music singers have been at odds for over a decade and in a new interview, Kacey<\/strong>, 37, revealed what caused her rift with Miranda<\/strong>, 42.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span>While speaking to NPR<\/a><\/em> on Wednesday (March 11), Kacey<\/strong> said that she wrote Miranda<\/strong>\u2018s 2011 mega-hit song \u201cMama\u2019s Broken Heart,\u201d and that she initially wanted to record it herself.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was gonna be my first single and I loved the song so much,\u201d Kacey<\/strong> explained. \u201cI had been a staff writer for years at that point, writing for other people, and had finally felt like I was collecting songs that felt like me that I didn\u2019t wanna pitch to anyone else.\u201d<\/p>\n Kacey <\/strong>claimed that the song was pitched to Miranda<\/strong> with her \u201cconsent or knowledge\u201d and that Miranda<\/strong> ultimately got to put the song on her 2011 album Four the Record <\/em>because she was a bigger star at the time.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was a tricky situation. She ended up loving the song and she really wanted it,\u201d Kacey<\/strong> recalled. \u201cAnd I had other co-writers to consider.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt was two singers from two nearby, small Texas towns. There\u2019s a lot that comes with that. Then we each take our own different paths, both leading us to Nashville at different times, added Kacey<\/strong>, who like Miranda <\/strong>is also from Texas.<\/p>\n Looking back at the situation, Kacey<\/strong> said that she is now fine with the way things turned out because it \u201cforced\u201d her to write \u201cMerry Go Around,\u201d which was featured on her 2013 debut album Same Trailer Different Park<\/em>.<\/p>\n Now all these years later, Kacey<\/strong> and Miranda<\/strong> have buried the hatchet and have collaborated on the new song \u201cHorses and Divorces,\u201d which will be featured on Kacey<\/strong>\u2018s upcoming album Middle of Nowhere<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019d lost touch for years and wouldn\u2019t consider each other friends,\u201d Kacey<\/strong> shared. \u201cI saw her on Instagram one day, riding one of her horses, and I was like, \u2018Well, we ain\u2019t friends, but I guess we have two things in common, horses and divorces, that\u2019s for sure.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Seeing Miranda<\/strong>\u2018s Instagram activity made Kacey<\/strong> thing of a \u201creally funny song\u201d decided to reach out to see if they could co-wrote and record it together.<\/p>\n \u201cI was like, \u2018I know we\u2019ve had our s\u2013t over the years, but listen, we\u2019ve at least got two things in common,\u2019\u201d Kacey<\/strong> recalled. \u201c\u2018I\u2019m not trying to be your friend. You got your life, I have mine. But I think this would be a pretty f\u2013king funny song, and we should write it with Shane [McAnally].\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Miranda<\/strong> responded to Kacey<\/strong> that she was in to collaborate, which Kacey<\/strong> said was a \u201cvery full circle in so many ways.\u201d The two ladies \u201caired out any of the old laundry,\u201d had \u201csome laughs\u201d and wrote the song \u201cin a matter of a few hours.\u201d<\/p>\n Kacey<\/strong> will be dropping Middle of Nowhere<\/em> on May 1.
