\t\t<\/p>\n Maika Monroe<\/strong><\/a> is looking back at her decision to change her name.<\/p>\n While appearing on Josh Horowitz<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s Happy Sad Confused<\/em> podcast<\/a> on Monday (March 9), the 32-year-old actress, best known for her roles in Longlegs<\/em> and Reminders of Him<\/em>, revealed that her real first name is \u201cDillon,\u201d but she decided to change it when she was in elementary school.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span>\u201cMy mom was deciding between naming me Maika or Dillon if it was going to be a girl,\u201d Maika<\/strong> explained. \u201cShe was like, \u2018If I have a girl, it\u2019s Maika or Dillon.\u2019 A week before I was born, she had some dream and it was like, \u2018It\u2019s going to be Dillon.\u2019 So, I came out a girl and she named me Dillon.\u201d <\/p>\n For the first seven years of her life, she went on by \u201cDillon,\u201d but that all changed when she found out she was almost named \u201cMaika.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAround 7 years old, which I think is like first grade, I was just curious, like, \u2018What other names were you going to name me? What were you thinking?\u2019\u201d the actress recalled. \u201cAnd she said, \u2018Maika.\u2019 And I was like, \u2018Oh my God, I love that name.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI also think at that age there were boy Dillons and other Dillons, and I think Maika felt very unique,\u201d she continued. \u201cSo I was like, \u2018I\u2019m gonna be named Maika. I\u2019m not gonna listen if you call me Dillon. I won\u2019t pay attention.\u2019 And I have literally been Maika since then.\u201d <\/p>\n Maika<\/strong> noted that she didn\u2019t complete ditch \u201cDillon\u201d altogether, and instead decided to adopt it as her middle name.<\/p>\n Reminders of Him<\/em> \u2013 which also stars Tyriq Withers<\/strong><\/a>, Rudy Pankow<\/strong><\/a>, Lauren Graham<\/strong><\/a>, and Bradley Whitford<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 hits theaters on March 13.
