Doja Cat<\/strong><\/a> is weighing in on Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s controversial comments about ballet and opera.<\/p>\n

Chalamet, 29, recently drew the ire of the theater community<\/a> after claiming in an interview that \u201cno one cares\u201d about the art forms anymore.<\/p>\n

\u201cOpera is 400 years old. ballet is 500 years old,\u201d Doja, 30, said in a TikTok<\/a> video on Sunday, March 8, calling Chalamet out by name.<\/p>\n

\u201cSomebody named Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet \u2014 big guy, by the way \u2014 had the nerve to say on camera that nobody cares about it,\u201d the \u201cPaint the Town Red\u201d rapper said. \u201cI\u2019m sure you can walk into an opera theater right now, seats will be filled out, and nobody\u2019s saying a word as the performance is going because everybody has that much respect for it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTimoth\u00e9e Chalamet takes pride in his work on the film Marty Supreme, but his latest comments about his performance have left fans divided. \u201cThis is probably my best performance, you know, and it\u2019s been, like, seven, eight years that I feel like I\u2019ve been handing in really, really committed, top-of-the-line performances,\u201d Chalamet, 29, said in [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

She continued, \u201cThere is an etiquette around opera. There is etiquette around ballet. It\u2019s amazing. It\u2019s an amazing theater medium. It\u2019s f***ing beautiful.\u201d<\/p>\n

Doja went on to praise people who work in ballet and opera for their dedication to their art.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople go there every day to the dance studio. Dancers show up [at] 8 a.m., 6 a.m. whatever the f*** [time] they show up, and they break and they bleed every single day just because they have respect for it,\u201d she said. \u201cThey love it, they love what they do. It doesn\u2019t matter if the industry is having a tough time at any time \u2026 a lot of industries have a tough time. Your industry has a tough time. My industry has a tough time. Doesn\u2019t mean people don\u2019t care about it. People care. Dancers care. The singers care. The audience cares.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s still an audience. People give a f***. You show up in a nice outfit, you sit the f*** down and you shut the f*** up,\u201d she concluded. \u201cThat\u2019s the usual etiquette around those things. Maybe learn something from that.\u201d<\/p>\n

During an interview with Matthew McConaughey<\/strong> for Variety<\/em><\/a> last month, Chalamet talked about audiences seemingly having shorter attention spans.<\/p>\n

\u201cI admire people [saying], \u2018Hey, we gotta keep movie theaters alive. We gotta keep this genre alive,\u2019\u201d he said. \u201cI don\u2019t want to be working in ballet or opera where it\u2019s like, \u2018Hey, keep this thing alive, even though no one cares about this anymore.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
