What can\u2019t she do?! Ashley Graham<\/strong><\/a> may have gotten her start as a model, but nowadays, she\u2019s gained a massive following as a body-positivity activist<\/a>, podcaster and so much more.<\/p>\n After Ashley began modeling at 13 years old the Nebraska native made her big break when she graced the cover of the Sports Illustrated<\/em><\/a> swimsuit edition<\/a> in 2016, becoming the publication\u2019s first \u201ccurvy\u201d cover model.<\/p>\n \u201cI knew that it was a possibility because while you\u2019re on set, they\u2019re telling you every shot could be the cover. You just don\u2019t know. So, I took every shot very seriously, and I thought it would be really groundbreaking if Sports Illustrated<\/em> put a girl who\u2019s a size 14-16 on the cover \u2014 someone who\u2019s considered plus-size,\u201d she told TIME<\/em><\/a> in February 2016. \u201cThen I thought, \u2018Maybe it\u2019s just too progressive. Maybe they\u2019ll wait another year. Who knows. When I saw it, I thought, \u2018Oh my god, this is real life.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Although Ashley was labeled as a plus-size model throughout her career, she never labeled herself as such. One year before her big break, the cover girl hosted a Ted Talk<\/em> on body acceptance. During her speech, she said, \u201cI don\u2019t see it as \u2018plus-size,\u2019 I see it as \u2018my-size,\u2019\u201d because she sees the term as a good thing.<\/p>\n \u201cI think there\u2019s a huge division between straight-size models and plus-size models<\/a>,\u201d Ashley told TIME<\/em>. \u201cNot between the models themselves, but with the designers, the magazines and things like that, because they see it as two different entities. If you book a plus-size model, she\u2019s like your \u2018other.\u2019 We\u2019re just always looked at as tokens.\u201d<\/p>\n Ashley welcomed her first child, son Isaac, in January 2020 with husband Justin Ervin<\/strong>. During her pregnancy, the content creator loved her body through all of its changes and shared those moments with her fans<\/a>. The same thing happened when she announced her second pregnancy in September 2021 with twins Malachi and Roman, who were born on January 7, 2022.<\/p>\n Ashley may use her social media platforms as her highlight reel, but she also shared the \u201cnot so pretty\u201d moments that life brings her. Like breastfeeding two babies<\/a> at once, for example.<\/p>\n In February 2022, Ashley posted a photo via Instagram of her breastfeeding<\/a> one of the twins while burping the other in both hands, while reflecting on motherhood with three young kids.<\/p>\n \u201cMy boys have been the greatest teachers and biggest reminders that I can do hard things.
