Doc Martin<\/em> star Martin Clunes<\/strong> is making his debut as Josh Charles<\/strong><\/a>\u2018 father on the Fox remake Best Medicine<\/em>.<\/p>\n

In Us Weekly<\/em>\u2018s exclusive clip from the Tuesday, March 3, episode of the new series<\/a>, Robert (Clunes) and wife Vanessa (Judith Ivey<\/strong>) have an awkward breakfast with Aunt Sarah (Annie Potts<\/strong>) and their son, Martin (Charles).<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t imagine you both growing up in Port Wenn,\u201d Martin tells his parents. Vanessa clarifies that certain traditions such as the Blueberry Festival were after their time, adding, \u201cAfter we left, we never looked back.\u201d<\/p>\n

Robert is in agreement about not focusing on his time in the small town. His sister, Sarah, isn\u2019t thrilled with his outlook.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFox is investing in medicine with its upcoming comedy drama Best Medicine, which pulls inspiration from the beloved series Doc Martin. Before expanding their roster with Best Medicine, Fox found success with The Resident, which ran for six seasons before its conclusion in 2023. The network then ordered Doc to series and has continued to [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cBetter just to sweep it all under the rug, right?\u201d she asks, to which Vanessa replies, \u201cSarah, your tough act does not mask your deep regret and shame about your life choices. If anything, it emphasizes it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Martin interrupts the argument to ask why<\/a> Robert and Vanessa are in town. It turns out they are planning to sell their house \u2014 where Sarah currently lives.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo you\u2019re off on a safari, looking at the zebras while I\u2019m back here, living on the street and licking donuts out of a dumpster,\u201d Sarah fires back. \u201cHow would I pay [to buy the house]? In lobsters?\u201d<\/p>\n

Sarah acknowledges that she knows her brother<\/a> has \u201chad it harder than most,\u201d referring to his daughter\u2019s death, adding, \u201cBut that doesn\u2019t give you an excuse to be cruel.\u201d Robert, however, is outraged that Sarah would bring up his late daughter.<\/p>\n

Clunes\u2019 appearance on Best Medicine<\/em>, which has already been renewed for a second season, marks the first appearance from an OG Doc Martin. The ITV series aired from 2004 to 2022 and was created by Dominic Minghella<\/strong>, who developed the character of Dr. Martin Bamford from the 2000 film Saving Grace<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Best Medicine<\/em>, meanwhile, follows a doctor who moves<\/a> from Boston to a small practice in the East Coast fishing village where he vacationed as a child. In addition to Charles, the cast includes Josh Segarra, Abigail Spencer, Cree Cicchino, Annie Potts, Didi Conn, Clea Lewis, Stephen Spinella, Jason Veasey, Cindy De La Cru, John DiMaggio, Carter Shimp<\/strong> and dog Wattson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
