Carrie Underwood<\/strong><\/a> is seemingly relishing in the boos she received on American Idol<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cBoo me. I don\u2019t care. \ud83d\ude02\ud83d\ude1c\ud83e\udd2a,\u201d the Idol<\/em> judge, 42, clapped back via X<\/a> on Monday, March 2.<\/p>\n

Underwood clashed with the live audience during each of American Idol<\/em>\u2019s \u201cHollywood Week: Music City Takeover\u201d episodes during season 24. The Hollywood Week episodes \u2014 which were filmed in Nashville this season \u2014 made for awkward viewing at times since Underwood\u2019s constructive criticism proved to be unpopular with the crowd.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey just like to boo me,\u201d Underwood said in Tuesday\u2019s final \u201cHollywood Week: Music City Takeover\u201d episode.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tEmma McIntyre\/Getty Images Carrie Underwood plans to bring her unique musical insight \u2014 and country flare \u2014 to the table as the newest American Idol judge. \u201cI think I can be honest and constructive, but still kind,\u201d Underwood, 41, told radio personality Buzz Brainard on Friday, August 23, of her goal as a judge. \u201cAnd [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Fellow American Idol<\/em> judge Luke Bryan<\/strong> piped up to defend the former Idol<\/em> winner during one stretch of booing.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe only won this. She knows,\u201d Bryan, 49, admonished the crowd.<\/p>\n

His reference to Underwood\u2019s American Idol<\/em> season 4 victory did little to quiet the backlash, leading her to warn the booing fans about interfering in the judging process.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re not included in the discussions,\u201d she told them.<\/p>\n

The booing was particularly heavy after Idol<\/em> hopeful Mor<\/strong> performed an original song<\/a> during his \u201cMusic City Takeover\u201d audition. When it came time for his evaluations, Underwood correctly predicted to Bryan that \u201cthey are going to boo me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou guys are gonna boo me. You\u2019re gonna boo me,\u201d she told the crowd. \u201cIt\u2019s coming. Bring it on. I love it! Your boos are feeding me.\u201d<\/p>\n

In her feedback, she argued that Mor made a mistake by trying out original material during \u201cHollywood Week: Music City Takeover.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIn a room like this for you to bring an original song with that incredible band sitting behind you twiddling their thumbs, I feel like it was a missed opportunity,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Mor ultimately was still advanced to the next stage of American Idol<\/em> by the judges despite Underwood\u2019s lukewarm appraisal.<\/p>\n

\u201cSinging original music is SUCH a gamble at this stage in the competition. Don\u2019t. Waste. The. Band,\u201d Underwood insisted via X<\/a> on Monday. \u201cMor\u2019s voice and previous audition kept him in. I wanna hear his original music after he\u2019s a big star!\u201d<\/p>\n

Underwood previously hinted that she was going to have a hostile rapport<\/a> with the \u201cHollywood Week: Music City Takeover\u201d crowd before the episodes even aired.<\/p>\n

Underwood joined the American Idol<\/em> judging panel for season 23 alongside Bryan and Lionel Richie<\/strong>, following Katy Perry<\/strong>\u2019s departure after seven seasons in 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went from nobody knowing my name to tens of million of people watching the show,\u201d she said at the time. \u201cI\u2019m proud of everything that I was able to accomplish on the show and I\u2019m so proud of everything I\u2019ve accomplished since.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tBefore her American Idol audition, an executive producer told Carrie Underwood that Simon Cowell hated country music \u2014 but she already knew. Then 21, Underwood went ahead with her rendition of Bonnie Raitt\u2019s \u201cI Can\u2019t Make You Love Me\u201d while trying out for the singing competition in 2005, and her heart sank as soon as [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Underwood received the backing<\/a> of fellow American Idol<\/em> winner Kelly Clarkson<\/strong>, who told E! News in September 2024 that the country star was the perfect addition to the judging panel. (Clarkson has been a coach on rival competition show The Voice<\/em> for 10 seasons.)<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat better person to have \u2014 somebody that\u2019s won that show to come back,\u201d Clarkson, 43, said at the time. \u201cTo have gone through it all and then had such a huge career like her, that\u2019s invaluable.\u201d<\/p>\n
