CBS\u2019 Marshals<\/em> spinoff picks up after the Yellowstone<\/em><\/a> series finale \u2014 but where did every member of the Dutton family end up?<\/p>\n

The Paramount Network series wrapped up in December 2024 after five seasons with Beth (Kelly Reilly<\/strong>) avenging father John\u2019s (Kevin Costner<\/strong>) death by killing brother Jamie (Wes Bentley<\/strong>). Beth\u2019s husband, Rip (Cole Hauser<\/strong>), helped her hide the murder by taking Jamie\u2019s body to the train station.<\/p>\n

Kayce (Luke Grimes<\/strong>), meanwhile, chose<\/a> to sell the Dutton Ranch to Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham<\/strong>) for $1.25 per acre under the condition that he can stay on East Camp with wife Monica (Kelsey Asbille<\/strong>) and son Tate (Brecken Merrill<\/strong>). As for Beth, she purchased her own ranch for her, Rip and Carter (Finn Little<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

Taylor Sheridan<\/strong>\u2018s hit series premiered in 2018 and became an instant hit for the network<\/a>, which inspired prequels including 1883 and 1923. Another spinoff starring Matthew McConaughey was in the works, but it was seemingly replaced by a different show titled The Madison<\/em>, starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Patrick J. Adams, Elle Chapman, Matthew Fox, Beau Garrett, Amiah Miller, Kurt Russell<\/strong> and more.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tSince Yellowstone debuted in 2018, the story of the Dutton family has had enough potential to inspire six spinoffs (and counting) to add to the Paramount Network roster \u2014 but with that has come delays. Yellowstone focuses on a powerful family that runs the largest contiguous ranch in the United States. Amid their success, the [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Amid delays and changes, some Yellowstone<\/em> fans are still waiting for the previously teased 6666 spinoff \u2014 which was set to follow Jimmy Hurdstrom (Jefferson White<\/strong>) during his time at the Four Sixes ranch in Texas. Marshals and Dutton Ranch have made more progress as Sheridan, 55, is also focused on non-Yellowstone<\/em> projects, including Landman<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause Paramount trusts me and gives me the time to go shoot 10 to 14 days for a television episode, we can treat it like a movie, and it looks like a movie,\u201d Sheridan told Deadline in January 2022. \u201cWe can take the time to rehearse it and light it and build these set pieces. And if I call them and say, \u2018I need two helicopters in one day,\u2019 they just go, \u2018Alright.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cAt the end of the day, to go to some of these locations where most people have never been, where you\u2019re opening up a new world, and all of these places or characters in the story, to me, it\u2019s fascinating.\u201d<\/p>\n

News broke in October 2025 that Sheridan\u2019s programming would be going<\/a> through more changes now that he closed a film and TV deal with NBCUniversal. The five-year overall deal for film, TV and streaming is set to begin January 1, 2029, after Sheridan\u2019s TV deal with Paramount \u2014 which goes through 2028 \u2014 officially ends.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tCBS is expanding the Yellowstone universe with a spinoff centered around Kayce Dutton \u2014 but which alums are reprising their roles on the new show? Yellowstone, which premiered in 2018, introduced viewers to the fictional Dutton family, who own the largest ranch in Montana. After finding success on Paramount, creator Taylor Sheridan grew the Yellowstone [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Paramount will retain the rights to Yellowstone and the other franchises Sheridan created under his deal with the company, so he is expected to create brand new IP for NBCUniversal. Sheridan\u2019s move comes after Paramount\u2019s recent merger with Skydance. The change led to the exit of Paramount Global co-CEO Chris McCarthy, who worked closely with Sheridan.<\/p>\n
