\t\t<\/p>\n Susan Sarandon<\/strong><\/a> is claiming she has been blacklisted by Hollywood and the film industry at large for speaking up about Gaza and asking for a ceasefire.<\/p>\n \u201cI was fired by my agency specifically for marching and speaking out about Gaza \u2014 for asking for a ceasefire \u2014 and it became impossible for me to even be on television,\u201d Susan<\/strong> said during a Barcelona press conference<\/a> on Friday (February 27) ahead of the 2026 Goya Awards. \u201cI don\u2019t know lately if it\u2019s changed, [but] I couldn\u2019t do any major film, anything connected with Hollywood.\u201d<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Susan<\/strong> was dropped by the United Talent Agency<\/a> in November 2023 over comments she made at a pro-Palestine rally<\/a>.<\/p>\n She suggested<\/a> that Jewish-Americans were \u201cgetting a taste of what it is like to be Muslim in this country, so often subjected to violence.\u201d <\/p>\n The Thelma & Louise<\/em> star later apologized in a statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n Susan<\/strong> has appeared in a few significant films since then, like The Six Triple Eight<\/em> and Nonnas<\/em>, but notably both movies were completed before November 2023.<\/p>\n Since that time, she says she has only been able to find work in England and Italy, having done a play at the Old Vic recently for a few months.<\/p>\n \u201cThis Italian director that just hired me, he was told not to hire me,\u201d she revealed. \u201cSo that\u2019s still recently. He didn\u2019t listen, but they had that conversation. So right now, I kind of specialize in tiny films with directors who have never directed and are independent films, and films that are in Europe or in Italy. So that\u2019s the main reason I haven\u2019t been working as much.\u201d<\/p>\n Susan<\/strong> continued, \u201cIn a place where you feel repression and censorship, to see Spain and to see the president and what he says, and the support that he\u2019s giving about Gaza, and to have actors like Javier Bardem<\/strong><\/a> come forward with such a strong voice is so important to us in the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWhen you turn on the TV and you see how strong Spain is and how clear that you are morally about these issues, it makes you feel less alone, and it makes you feel that there is hope because of you all. You just don\u2019t hear that on television in the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n
