Bridgerton<\/em><\/a> showrunner Jess Brownell<\/strong> broke her silence about if Phoebe Dynevor<\/strong><\/a> and Reg\u00e9-Jean Page<\/a><\/strong> are at risk of being recast.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are not interested in recasting the characters,\u201d Brownell told Variety<\/em><\/a> on Thursday, February 26. \u201cI think it would feel like a disservice to everything Reg\u00e9 and Phoebe set up in season 1, and all the beautiful work they put into those characters.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brownell didn\u2019t rule out an onscreen return for them.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cWe would love to potentially have them back at some point, but I think, logistically, we want to make sure we bring them back when we have something really meaty for them,\u201d she continued. \u201cAnd to have them come back to say a line at a funeral [in season 4] and just prove that they were there, it wouldn\u2019t feel right for many reasons.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tBridgerton quickly became a fan favorite after debuting on Netflix in 2020, but not all of the show\u2019s cast members chose to stick around. The historical drama, which is based on the book series written by Julia Quinn, follows the members of the wealthy Bridgerton family as they search for love in 19th century London. [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

She concluded: \u201cSo I think in my mind, the camera doesn\u2019t capture everything. They\u2019re hypothetically there [this season] \u2014 it\u2019s television. But we would love to find a time to bring everyone back at some point in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bridgerton<\/em>, which is based on the book series written by Julia Quinn<\/strong>, follows the members of the wealthy Bridgerton family as they search for love in 19th century London. Season 1 focused on Daphne Bridgerton\u2019s (Dynevor) unexpected connection with Simon Basset (Page).<\/p>\n

After the show premiered, viewers fell in love with<\/a> Page, 38, and his character, which made his departure that much more shocking. Netflix announced in April 2021 that Page would not be reprising his role as the Duke of Hastings despite plans for Daphne to appear in future seasons.<\/p>\n

That same month, Page noted that Simon had always been pitched to him as a condensed role, telling Variety<\/em>, \u201cIt\u2019s a one-season arc. It\u2019s going to have a beginning, middle, end \u2014 give us a year. [I thought] \u2018That\u2019s interesting,\u2019 because then it felt like a limited series. I get to come in, I get to contribute my bit, and then the Bridgerton family rolls on.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAfter playing Simon Basset in Bridgerton\u2018s first season, Reg\u00e9-Jean Page explained that he was ready to move on \u2014 but is his decision permanent? Viewers quickly fell in love with Page and his character, the Duke of Hastings, when season 1 of the Netflix drama premiered in December 2020. His streamy onscreen romance with Phoebe [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Page stood by his decision even though fans have publicly voiced their disappointment about not getting to see more of Simon\u2019s story. Season 2 still featured several appearances from Daphne, who was accompanied by her and Simon\u2019s son, Auggie.<\/p>\n
