I used Jameson Irish Whiskey.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fresh Herbs:<\/strong> If you want to use fresh thyme, increase the amount to 1\/2 teaspoon, or even up to 1 teaspoon.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><!-- .block-quick-tips__inner --><\/div>\n<p> <!-- .block-quick-tips --><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-make-irish-chicken\">How to Make Irish Chicken<\/h2>\n<p>I wanted to take all of the Irish chicken recipes I found online and put my own twist on them. The whiskey and cream really made everything come together! Make some <a href=\"https:\/\/therecipecritic.com\/best-irish-soda-bread\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"22593\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">I<span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">rish<\/span> Soda Bread<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/therecipecritic.com\/guinness-chocolate-cake\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"250119\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Guinness cake<\/a> for a festive St. Patrick\u2019s Day meal!<\/p>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list is-style-fancy\">\n<li><strong>Prep: <\/strong>Preheat the oven to 375\u00b0F. Pat\u00a0the chicken thighs dry with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.target.com\/p\/bounty-select-a-size-paper-towels\/-\/A-54406334?preselect=53274278#lnk=sametab\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">paper towels<\/a>, then combine the salt, onion powder,\u00a0garlic powder, pepper, paprika, and thyme\u00a0in a small bowl and rub evenly over the chicken. Set aside.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cook Bacon:<\/strong> Add bacon to a cold <a href=\"https:\/\/www.target.com\/p\/cuisinart-classic-10-34-38-12-34-stainless-steel-2pk-skillet-set-silver\/-\/A-88223280#lnk=sametab\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">skillet<\/a> and cook over medium, flipping halfway, until crisp, about 8 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel lined plate, then drain all but 1 tablespoon of the grease.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sear Chicken:<\/strong> Melt the butter in the skillet, then add the chicken skin-side down in batches and cook over medium heat for 6-7 minutes, flipping halfway through. Remove the chicken to a parchment-lined baking sheet. Drain off the fat except for about 1 tablespoon.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cook Cabbage:<\/strong> Add\u00a0the cabbage\u00a0and\u00a0onion\u00a0to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, then remove from the heat. Combine\u00a0the chicken broth, Irish whiskey, and cream,\u00a0and pour over the cabbage. Season with salt and pepper to taste.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Add Potatoes:<\/strong> Add the baby potatoes and crumble the reserved bacon over the top.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bake Uncovered: <\/strong>Place the chicken on top of the cabbage and potatoes, skin-side up.
