Mary Cosby’s son has died<\/p>\n
\nThe Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star confirmed the death of 23-year-old Robert Cosby Jr. on Wednesday (23.02.26), two days after police found his body when they “responded to a possible overdose” and the tragedy has made her “heart ache”.<\/p>\n
\nSpeaking on behalf of herself and husband Robert Cosby Sr., Mary told TMZ: “Our beloved son Robert Jr. has been called home to the Lord.<\/p>\n
\n“Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in God\u2019s promise and in knowing he is finally at peace. We are grateful for your prayers and trust in the Lord to carry us through this time of sorrow.”<\/p>\n
\nThe medical examiner is still investigating a cause of death for Robert, who was released from the Salt Lake County Metro Jail earlier this month after a two-month stint behind bars.<\/p>\n
\nHe was jailed after he pleaded guilty to eight out of 14 charges, including assault and violating a pretrial protective order obtained by his 21-year-old estranged wife Alexiana Arian Smokoff. The remaining six misdemeanour charges were dismissed with prejudice.<\/p>\n
\nMeanwhile, Real Housewives executive producer Andy Cohen has paid tribute to Robert and sent a message of support to Mary.<\/p>\n
\nHe wrote on Threads: \u201cDevastatingly sad news out of SLC. This is every parent\u2019s worst nightmare. My heart is broken for Mary, and I am sending all my love to her and Robert Sr.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nBravo also paid tribute to the reality star.<\/p>\n
\nThe network said in a statement: “We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Mary\u2019s beloved son, Robert Jr. Mary is a cherished member of our family, and our thoughts, love, and deepest condolences are with her and her loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nMary, 53, previously admitted she was “shocked” when she discovered her son’s struggles with drug addiction.<\/p>\n
\nSpeaking to Us Weekly magazine last year, she said: \u201cI immediately started blaming myself, because I thought, \u2018You can\u2019t judge him and his life and his choices.’<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI don\u2019t believe in judging people. I\u2019m just not a judger. I don\u2019t like judging people, and I don\u2019t like to do it. \u2026 If he\u2019s opening up enough to tell me something this crucial, then why would I judge? I have no choice but to sit there and receive it and accept it and hope that I can help him.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nShe noted Robert had \u201chad a little bit of a setback\u201d in his recovery at the time, but she prayed he \u201cstays good”.<\/p>\n
\nShe added: \u201cI can honestly sit here and say he\u2019s doing very good.\u201d<\/p>\n
