Steve Martin<\/a> and Martin Short\u2019s show, originally scheduled for Friday, February 27th in Milwaukee, has been postponed.<\/p>\n“Tickets will be honored for a future rescheduled date. We will be in contact with further news when it is available.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nCurrently, the next show still on the schedule seems to be a performance at the DAR Constitution Hall in Washington DC on March 13.<\/p>\n
\nIn a statement shared with PEOPLE magazine on Tuesday, the Short family confirmed social worker Katherine – who was adopted by Martin and his late wife of 30 years, Nancy Dolman – died this week (23.02.26) at a home in the Hollywood Hills.<\/p>\n
\nThey said: “It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short.<\/p>\n
\n“The Short family is devastated by this loss, and asks for privacy at this time. Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.”<\/p>\n
\nKatherine made a conscious effort to keep out of the spotlight during her life, but she still attended some events alongside her dad, including the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in February 2011 and the afterparty for The Producers in 2003.<\/p>\n
\nShe earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and gender sexuality studies at New York University in 2006, while she achieved a master’s in social work from the University of Southern California in 2010.<\/p>\n
\nKatherine subsequently worked as a licensed clinical social worker in a private practice, as well as working part-time at the Amae Health clinic.<\/p>\n
\nAccording to the Los Angeles Times, a law enforcement source said she died by apparent suicide.<\/p>\n
\nMartin’s wife Nancy – with whom he also adopted Oliver Patrick, 39, and Henry Hayter, 36 – died from ovarian cancer aged 58 in 2010.<\/p>\n
\nThe Only Murders In The Building star told AARP in 2019: “She died in 2010, but I still communicate with her all the time. It\u2019s \u2018Hey, Nan,\u2019 you know?<\/p>\n
\n“How would she react to this decision or that, especially regarding our three kids? I believe that when people die, they zoom into the people that love them.<\/p>\n
\n“This idea that it just ends, and don\u2019t speak of them \u2014 that\u2019s wrong. That\u2019s based on denial that we\u2019re all going to die. So to me, she\u2019s still here. <\/p>\n
\n“At the same time, her death emboldened me to take risks. With real tragedy, you become a little more daring. It\u2019s the yin to the yang: the positive part of life\u2019s dark side.”<\/p>\n
