Bella Hadid<\/strong><\/a> got candid about having to turn down jobs while going through Lyme disease treatment.<\/p>\n

While being interviewed by Gigi Hadid<\/strong> for a cover of Vogue Italia<\/em><\/a>, Bella, 29, was asked what she was \u201clearning\u201d about \u201cpushing it too hard\u201d when it comes to a healthy work-life balance.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re learning that when it\u2019s time to say no we have to say no,\u201d the model replied. Gigi, 30, added, \u201cAnd learning how to schedule our lives in a way that is for longevity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bella continued, \u201cRight, I think that\u2019s very important and actually I have really learned that and I think that the way that I worked for many years was not sustainable. I think that, you know, even during COVID I continued to work.\u201d Now, she feels more aligned with who she is \u201cright now.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tCourtesy of Bella Hadid\/Instagram Bella Hadid has spoken candidly about her struggles with Lyme disease over the years. The model was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2012 at age 16. Bella, however, wasn\u2019t the only one in her family who has been publicly battling the illness. Her mother, Yolanda Hadid, confirmed at the Global Lyme [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cBeing able to be in Texas with my horses and my dog, having a real life, and then going back to work makes it more fulfilling,\u201d she explained. \u201cNow I know that if I\u2019m able to say \u2018No,\u2019 even going through my [Lyme disease] treatment last year and having to say no to every job for almost a year, which I cried about. I was emotional because you feel disposable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bella went on to say she \u201cstruggled\u201d with not tying her personal value to jobs. \u201cYou know, my successes and the things that I do in my work does not equate to who I am as a person and how loved I am or how good I am doesn\u2019t have to do with the jobs that I say yes to,\u201d she said, noting she discussed the topic in therapy.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor so long, saying no to a job was like, \u2018Who was I to say no to anything?\u2019 You know, it was both of us and we were just grateful to have respect in the industry.\u201d Bella shared that she learned how to \u201crelease\u201d that mindset and learn that \u201cpeople know my heart and my personality and who I am enough now.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cI can release that and really do the jobs that are with and for the people that I love and trust and support and respect. And that\u2019s good enough. And I\u2019m good enough.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bella has been candid about her struggles with Lyme disease<\/a> in the past, which she was diagnosed with in 2013.<\/p>\n

In September 2025, she shared photos of herself in a hospital and hooked up to IVs.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sorry I always go MIA I love you guys,\u201d she captioned the post. Her mom, Yolanda Hadid<\/strong> \u2014 who was also diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2012 \u2014 commented, \u201c\u2764\ufe0fLyme warrior.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gigi added, \u201cI love you! I hope [you] feel as strong and good as u deserve, soon!!!!!!\u201d<\/p>\n

Yolanda further praised her daughter\u2019s strength<\/a> via social media that same month.<\/p>\n
