Tom Holland<\/strong> has\u00a0taken a step back<\/a> from social media in recent years, telling his followers in an Instagram video last August that he planned to \u201cdelete the app\u201d because he found online discourse to be \u201cdetrimental to my mental state.\u201d But while the actor has assumed a cautionary approach to being online, he\u2019s still active in the all-important\u00a0Spider-Man<\/em>\u00a0group chat he\u00a0first talked about last year<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n The current Peter Parker texts regularly with\u00a0Tobey Maguire<\/strong>, who played the role in\u00a0the 2000s trilogy,<\/a> and\u00a0Andrew Garfield<\/strong>, whose last solo Spidey film was 2014\u2019s\u00a0The Amazing Spider-Man 2<\/em>. All three webbed heroes reunited for 2021\u2019s\u00a0No Way Home<\/em>\u00a0and have been in contact ever since.\u00a0 \u201cMyself, Andrew, Tobey\u2014we have this amazing bond as three people who have been through something that is so unique that we really are like brothers,\u201d Holland told\u00a0The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a> in a new profile. \u201cWe have a great group chat and we catch up every now and then. It\u2019s called the Spider-Boys.\u201d<\/p>\n When asked about the last topic they covered, Holland spilled: \u201cI was doing a charity event in London for the Brothers Trust and I was asking if they would be so kind as to sign a poster to auction off. They were obviously happy to oblige.\u201d Otherwise, joked Holland, they use the chat to discuss \u201cSpider-Man stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n Holland also reflected on his regrets about not reaching out to Garfield when he inherited the role of Spider-Man in 2015, only a year after the previous\u00a0Spider-Man<\/em>\u00a0film was met with a lackluster reception. \u201cThat\u2019s because of my na\u00efvet\u00e9 as a kid,\u201d he explained. \u201cI was 19 when I got cast. I was so caught up in getting the role that I never took any time to think about what it must have been like for him. If I\u2019d made my second movie and it didn\u2019t necessarily deliver in the way it should have done and they recast me, I would really struggle to bounce back. Andrew bounced back in the most unbelievable way. I just wish I\u2019d called him and just said, \u2018You know I can\u2019t turn down this opportunity.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Plans for a fourth Holland-led\u00a0Spider-Man<\/em>\u00a0were in full-swing\u00a0until the writers\u2019 strike<\/a> halted early development meetings.\u00a0 \u201cIt\u2019s a collaborative process. The first few meetings were about, \u2018Why would we do this again?\u2019 And I think we found the reason why. I\u2019m really, really happy with where we\u2019re at in terms of the creative,\u201d Holland told the outlet. \u201cBut I\u2019m also a little apprehensive about it. There\u2019s a bit of a stigma about the fourth one in all franchises. I feel like we hit a home run with our first franchise and there\u2019s a part of me that wants to walk away with my head held high and pass the baton to the next lucky kid that gets to bring this character to life.\u201d Sounds like perfectly good fodder for the next \u201cSpider-Boys\u201d text thread.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
