Celebrities paid tribute to Treat Williams<\/a> after the actor\u2019s shocking death<\/a> in a motorcycle accident.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is a tough one, and I don\u2019t like doing this on social media, but I want to share what an absolute treasure Treat Williams was \u2014 both as an actor and a person,\u201d Matt Bomer<\/strong><\/a> began in an Instagram post shared on Monday, June 12. \u201cHe taught me in the most beautiful way \u2014 through patient example. He\u2019s one of the few actors I\u2019ve worked with who always checked in on me \u2014 even years after we worked together.\u201d<\/p>\n The American Horror Story<\/em><\/a> alum, 45, starred alongside Williams on White Collar<\/a><\/em>, which aired on USA Network from 2009 to 2014. The late Everwood<\/em><\/a> veteran played the father of Bomer\u2019s character, Neal Caffrey, in season 4.<\/p>\n Emily VanCamp<\/strong><\/a>, who appeared on Everwood<\/em> with Williams for the entire four-season run, also took to Instagram to honor her former costar. \u201cThe many times we worked together \u2014 always wonderful and I was always excited for the next time,\u201d the Revenge<\/em><\/a> alum, 37, wrote on Monday alongside a throwback photo of Williams.<\/p>\n Williams\u2019 family confirmed that he died on Monday at age 71<\/a> after he was involved in a motorcycle crash. \u201cIt is with great sadness that we report that our beloved Treat Williams has passed away tonight in Dorset, Vermont, after a fatal motorcycle accident,\u201d they said in a statement. \u201cAs you can imagine, we are shocked and greatly bereaved at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n Vermont State Police said that Williams was critically injured<\/a> around 5 p.m. ET when an SUV turned in front of him, which ended in a collision that threw him from his motorcycle. After the incident, he was airlifted to Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York, where he was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n The driver of the SUV was not issued a citation, but police noted that an investigation is still ongoing.<\/p>\n Williams is survived by his wife, Pam Van Sant<\/strong>, and their children, son Gill, 31, and daughter Elinor, 25.<\/p>\n In their statement, the actor\u2019s family said they are \u201cbeyond devastated\u201d by his death. \u201cTreat was full of love for his family, for his life and for his craft, and was truly at the top of his game in all of it,\u201d they continued. \u201cIt is all so shocking right now, but please know that Treat was dearly and deeply loved and respected by his family and everyone who knew him.\u201d<\/p>\n
