\t\t<\/p>\n Alexander Skarsgard<\/strong><\/a> is opening up about starring in his recent movie Pillion<\/em><\/strong>. <\/p>\n The 49-year-old actor plays a biker dom in the A24 film alongside Harry Melling<\/strong><\/a>. <\/p>\n In a newly released magazine interview, Alexander<\/strong> dished on what excited him about the movie and depicting the sub-dom\/kink subcultures on screen.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cOften the sub-dom or kink subcultures are depicted in a very dark, scary way. Cruising<\/em> [William Friedkin<\/strong>\u2019s 1980 crime thriller, starring Al Pacino<\/strong><\/a> as an undercover cop tracking down a serial killer] is a good example, where it\u2019s like this dangerous underbelly of society,\u201d he tells AnOther<\/em> mag<\/a>. \u201cLike you\u2019re supposed to be intimidated. What I loved about this film was that it wasn\u2019t that, but it also didn\u2019t dip into the sentimentality of the violins playing, a new love for a second and now I\u2019m sad, staring out the window.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt felt irreverent and fun and charming and I really cared about these guys, this couple. It\u2019s so rare to read something wholly original where I\u2019m like, \u2018I haven\u2019t seen this depiction of any subculture before,\u2019\u201d he continued. \u201cI thought Harry [Lighton]<\/strong> had beautifully approached this subject matter with curiosity and respect, but not too much respect, because if you do it with too much respect it\u2019s a veneer, it\u2019s a Disneyfied version \u2013 \u2018Look how great they are.\u2019 I love that he wanted to show this world, let it be awkward and stumbly and weird and funny at times.\u201d <\/p>\n Alexander<\/strong> also added what excited him about taking on this project. <\/p>\n \u201cI was excited about Pillion<\/em> when I read it because it felt very truthful and authentic to the subculture, but also very accessible to people who are not in that subculture,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd the fact that Harry [Lighton]<\/strong> didn\u2019t sugar-coat it \u2013 \u2018Look how amazing they are. They\u2019re just like us.\u2019 He allowed it to be awkward and weird, and that excited me.\u201d<\/p>\n
