The 2026 BAFTA Film Awards<\/strong><\/a> ceremony on Sunday (February 22) faced some uncomfortable interruptions.<\/p>\n Host Alan Cumming<\/strong><\/a> addressed the crowd after several loud outbursts were overheard in the theater throughout the show, coming from John Davidson<\/strong><\/a>, a Tourette\u2019s syndrome campaigner who inspired the BAFTA-winning movie, I Swear<\/em>.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Before the show began, a floor manager let the audience know that John <\/strong>has Tourette\u2019s syndrome, Variety<\/a><\/em> reports, telling the crowd: \u201cI\u2019d like to welcome John Davidson MBE <\/strong>from one of our nominated films I Swear<\/em>. John<\/strong> has Tourette\u2019s Syndrome so please be aware you might hear some involuntary noises or movements during the ceremony.\u201d<\/p>\n Several outbursts could be heard throughout the BAFTA ceremony, including \u201cshut the f\u2013k up\u201d during an introductory speech from BAFTA chair Sara Putt<\/strong>, and \u201cf\u2013k you\u201d during the Best Children\u2019s and Family Film acceptance speech.<\/p>\n The audience also heard him shout the N-word when Michael B, Jordan<\/strong><\/a> and Delroy Lindo<\/strong><\/a> presented the award for Best Visual Effects to Avatar: Fire and Ash<\/em>.<\/p>\n Following the incidents, Alan <\/strong>spoke to the audience.<\/p>\n \u201cYou may have noticed some strong language in the background. This can be part of how Tourette\u2019s syndrome shows up for some people as the film explores that experience,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cThanks for your understanding and helping create a respectful space for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cTourette\u2019s Syndrome is a disability and the tics you\u2019ve heard tonight are involuntary, which means the person who has Tourette\u2019s Syndrome has no control over their language. We apologize if you are offended tonight,\u201d Alan<\/strong> added later in the night.<\/p>\n Variety <\/em>reported that John <\/strong>\u201cleft of his own accord and was not asked to leave by BAFTA\u201d during the second half of the ceremony. It\u2019s unclear if the outbursts will be included in the stream set to air later in the evening.<\/p>\n \n
