\u201cNow that I really think about it, I\u2019m working with the first person that taught me what good television was,\u201d she says of Murphy, naming Nip\/Tuck<\/em> as a seminal watch. Ford, too, has been a touchstone: Pascal can walk you through the trailer for A Single Man<\/em> frame by frame. Seeing it as a tween, \u201cI thought, that is the type of cinema I want to be a part of<\/em>. It\u2019s\u2026 kind of gaggy<\/em>.\u201d She laughs.<\/p>\n At The Juilliard School, Pascal was challenged to unlearn some of the training she\u2019d gotten in Chile. One instructor gave her a transformative piece of advice: \u201cJust do less.\u201d Pascal\u2019s taken it to heart. \u201cI don\u2019t think I had ever felt so alive while acting,\u201d she says, her soft pink acrylic nails fidgeting with a gray wool scarf by Acne Studios. \u201cJust letting things happen instead of doing it<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n The night I saw Richard II<\/em>, claims Pascal, was not a good show for her. \u201cI was como desconectada nom\u00e1s<\/em>,\u201d she says\u2014\u201ca little out of it.\u201d I found her captivating, an assessment shared by her co-star Michael Urie. \u201cOn stage, Lux is thrilling to play opposite,\u201d he tells me. \u201cEvery night is like the first night or the last night: vital and alive.\u201d As a colleague, she\u2019s equally generous in the wings: \u201cShe is the first person to check on me if I seem down offstage.\u201d<\/p>\n
