\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Luke Bryan<\/strong><\/a> is speaking out and standing up for his fellow American Idol<\/em><\/strong><\/a> judge, Katy Perry<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n The 46-year-old \u201cRollercoaster\u201d singer defended Katy <\/strong>over the backlash she received from viewers throughout the most recent season.<\/p>\n Katy <\/strong>was a target for fans of the reality competition over the past season, after she had seemingly made fun<\/a> of one of the contestants, and told a few jokes that didn\u2019t land well<\/a>.<\/p>\n Now, Luke <\/strong>is speaking out about the backlash.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Speaking to reporters at the CMA Fest over the weekend, Luke <\/strong>says some fans were a little hard on Katy <\/strong>this season.<\/p>\n \u201cI mean, we all get it \u2026 We\u2019re judging kids at home that people fall in love with, so we\u2019re not gonna bat a thousand. We\u2019re not gonna bat a thousand, as judges,\u201d he shared, via Taste of Country<\/a>. \u201cWe\u2019re [also] gonna send a kid through that may get controversial.\u201d<\/p>\n Luke <\/strong>also shared that while her, and his or Lionel Richie<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s comments don\u2019t sit well with fans, it\u2019s not coming from a place of ill-will for the hopefuls.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen me and Lionel and Katy sit down at the desk, in our hearts, we\u2019re doing the best we can. You know, Katy gets picked on for going out and trying to have fun, making a TV show,\u201d he shared. \u201cYou can\u2019t be so safe in the moment that you\u2019re homogenized, [that] you can never go for a joke or a fun moment. Sometimes you gotta just say stuff and roll the dice on TV like that, however it gets perceived.\u201d<\/p>\n Luke <\/strong>also said that Katy <\/strong>has handled all the comments about her online well.<\/p>\n \u201cIt may be my year next year.
