Cooking Channel New York City Wine &amp; Food Festival on October 10, 2019.<span class=\"image-caption-credit\"> (Photo Credit: Daniel Zuchnik\/Getty Images for NYCWFF)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-note-and-tell-tale-journal-entries-were-in-her-home\">A note and tell-tale journal entries were in her home<\/h2>\n<p>The late great Food Network star apparently left a \u201csuicidal note\u201d in the primary bedroom of her Brooklyn home, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2026\/02\/18\/anne-burrell-left-suicide-note\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>TMZ <\/em>reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Burrell died in June 2025 in her home.<\/p>\n<p>According to NYPD findings, investigators found a suicide note and journal entries with \u201csuicidal\u201d messaging on a bed in the same room as the note.<\/p>\n<p>Assuming that these are not forgeries or being greatly misunderstood, it sounds like Burrell was grappling with suicidal ideation for some time.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, the disease of suicidal depression caught up with her, claiming her life.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Anne Burrell&#039;s Best Moments on Worst Cooks in America S27 | Food Network\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/llVHiN31abQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Contrary to what police found in her home, Burrell\u2019s final social media posts showed no sign of depression, suicidal ideation, or anything resembling a cry for help.<\/p>\n<p>This is actually pretty common.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, many people do show clear signs that suicidal depression is in danger of taking their lives.<\/p>\n<p>But that is not universal. Some people are able to hide their symptoms, perhaps out of shame or a desire to fight this battle alone.<\/p>\n<p>And yes, many people can post happy, cheerful social media posts while misery eats away at them in real life. Savenok\/Getty Images for NYCWFF)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-her-friends-and-fans-continue-to-mourn\">Her friends and fans continue to mourn<\/h2>\n<p>Food Network fans know Burrell from multiple shows, including <em>Secrets of a Restaurant Chef<\/em>, <em>The Best Thing I Ever Ate<\/em>, and <em>Worst Cooks in America<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>(To be clear, she was not herself one of the titular \u201cworst cooks\u201d \u2026 any show about bad cooks requires good cooks for contrast.)<\/p>\n<p>Burrell had also been branching out. She\u2019d been working on improv comedy \u2014 even performing at The Second City the night before her death.<\/p>\n<p>Clearly, she left a lasting and positive impact upon the world.<\/p>\n<p>Her fans and loved ones wish that she were still with us.
