Investigators might be looking at a new clue from Nancy Guthrie<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s security footage as the search for her continues.<\/p>\n

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos<\/strong> told NBC News<\/a> on Tuesday, February 17, that it appears the suspect filmed on Guthrie\u2019s porch appeared to be wearing a ring underneath the pair of black gloves.<\/p>\n

\u201cI look at the same photo you look at and I get \u2014 I see it,\u201d Nanos said in the interview. \u201cI\u2019m going to give that to my team. They\u2019ll look at that. They\u2019ll analyze it and we\u2019ll see. Maybe, maybe it is.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also confirmed that police are looking to match the gun holder that the apparent suspect had on their belt.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know he had a gun. We know he had a holster that had some pretty unique characteristics,\u201d Nanos continued. \u201cWe can\u2019t quite identify it yet, but that\u2019s being worked on. So naturally, we go to our gun shops everywhere and say: \u2018Have you seen this guy? Can you help us identify this weapon? Can you help us identify this holster?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

News broke on February 1 that Today<\/em> host Savannah Guthrie<\/strong>\u2019s mom, Nancy, had gone missing from her Arizona home. Savannah has stepped away<\/a> from her NBC role to be with her family amid the ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n

Ever since Nancy was reported missing in Tucson, Arizona, on February 1, local law enforcement and the FBI have been working around the clock to bring the 84-year-old back to her family. \u201cI spoke with Savannah Guthrie, and let her [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Savannah and her siblings, Annie<\/strong> and Camron Guthrie<\/strong>, have presented a united front on social media<\/a> with several videos begging for the return of their mother. The news anchor has also recorded solo videos<\/a> with messages to the kidnappers. (It\u2019s been widely reported that several ransom notes<\/a> have been sent regarding the terms for Nancy\u2019s return.)<\/p>\n

The FBI released photo and video footage from Nancy\u2019s house<\/a> on February 10 that showed an apparent suspect wearing a ski mask while standing at the entrance to her home. The alleged assailant appears to try and cover the camera. They appeared to be wearing a backpack, which Nanos stated during Tuesday\u2019s interview could be another clue.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat backpack, we could positively now identify as a backpack that is sold at one place only. That\u2019s Walmart,\u201d he told NBC News. \u201cSo we\u2019re working with our Walmart managers all across the state to try to find out how many sales were there of that backpack in the last 20, 30 days, the last 60 days.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nanos added, \u201cAnd can we do something with that? Can we break it \u2014 maybe we\u2019ll find a credit card or a bank card. Maybe we\u2019ll find a video of the guy walking in.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tQuestions still remain after Today show host Savannah Guthrie\u2018s mother, Nancy Guthrie, was reported missing. The Pima County Sheriff\u2019s Department confirmed the news on February 1, sharing a missing person report via X. Nancy was described as a \u201cvulnerable adult\u201d who was last seen \u201cat her residence\u201d within Arizona\u2019s Catalina Foothills area on the evening [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Nanos confirmed in a separate interview with NBC \u2014 which aired via the Today<\/em> show on Wednesday, February 18 \u2014 that Nancy\u2019s kidnapping was absolutely a targeted attack.<\/p>\n
