Viola Davis has heaped praise on Robert Duvall<\/p>\n

The movie star passed away on Sunday (15.02.26), aged 95, and Viola has taken to Instagram to heap praise on her Widows co-star.<\/p>\n

The 60-year-old actress – who also appeared alongside the likes of Colin Farrell, Brian Tyree Henry, Daniel Kaluuya, Jacki Weaver, and Liam Neeson in the heist thriller – wrote on Instagram: “I had the honor of working alongside you in Widows. I was in awe. I\u2019ve always been in awe of your towering portrayals of men who were both quiet and dominating in their humanness. You were a giant\u2026 an icon\u2026 Apocalypse Now, The Godfather, To Kill a Mockingbird, Tender Mercies, The Apostle, Lonesome Dove\u2026 etc\u2026 Greatness never dies. It stays\u2026 as a gift. Rest well, sir. Your name will be spoken\u2026 May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest [heart emojis] (sic)”<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Adam Sandler<\/a> has also paid a heartfelt tribute to the Hollywood icon.<\/p>\n

The comedy star wrote on Instagram: “Funny as hell. Strong as hell. One of the greatest actors we ever had. Such a great man to talk to and laugh with. Loved him so much. We all did. So many movies to choose from that were legendary. Watch them when you can. Sending his wife Luciana and all his family and friends our condolences.”<\/p>\n

\nMeanwhile, Michael Keaton has heaped praise on his former co-star and friend.<\/p>\n

\nThe 74-year-old actor – who appeared with Duvall in Ron Howard\u2019s 1994 film The Paper – observed that the late movie star was “greatness personified as an actor”.<\/p>\n

\nMichael wrote on the photo-sharing platform: “another friend goes down. acted with and became friends. shared a great afternoon on my front porch talking about horses. he was greatness personified as an actor. RIP RD (sic)”<\/p>\n

\nJamie Lee Curtis echoed Michael’s sentiments, describing Duvall as the “greatest consigliere the screen has ever seen”.<\/p>\n
