Joshua Bassett has penned a memoir<\/p>\n
The 25-year-old actor is set to release his memoir, Rookie: My Public, Private, and Secret Life, in May, and Joshua admits that his account of his life is brutally honest.<\/p>\n
Joshua – who previously admitted to suffering abuse and battling heart failure during his younger years – told People: “I’ve shared bits and pieces of my story but haven’t necessarily shared how I got through what I’ve been through.”<\/p>\n
The actor feels he’s learned a lot through his life experiences, and Joshua is now keen to share his “practical wisdom” with his fans. <\/p>\n
The TV star said: “There’s a lot of people don’t know, there’s a lot my family doesn’t even know that’s in there. It’s definitely terrifying and vulnerable but hopefully leads to a lot of freedom and hopefully people are given a new perspective.”<\/p>\n
\nMeanwhile, Joshua previously admitted that he’s relished the challenge of balancing his acting career with his music.<\/p>\n
\nThe actor – who is best known for playing Ricky Bowen in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series – told Collider: “Sometimes the worlds really do overlap.<\/p>\n
\n“Music is always an incredible outlet for me. It\u2019s something that I spend a lot of time doing. You find a balance. I write, a lot of times, when I\u2019m on set or right after I\u2019m on set, and then I\u2019ll go into the studio and record some stuff.<\/p>\n
\n“I actually find it helpful to have the difference in creative outlets, between acting and then writing for myself, and then writing for the show.”<\/p>\n
\nJoshua starred in High School Musical alongside Olivia Rodrigo, who shot to international stardom amid the COVID-19 pandemic, when she released her debut album.<\/p>\n
\nThe brunette beauty previously said: “It helped me keep my sanity when there was so much drama going on. Being in isolation with people I loved and cared about kept me out of the hullabaloo.”<\/p>\n
