Jay Manuel<\/strong> is revealing where he stands with Tyra Banks<\/strong><\/a> today after their fallout on America\u2019s Next Top Model.<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n

Manuel, 53, shared in an interview with People<\/em><\/a> published on Monday, February 16, that he last saw Banks, 52, in 2017 \u2014 five years after he left the show alongside fellow panelists<\/a> Miss J Alexander <\/strong>and Nigel Barker<\/strong>. Manuel recalled that he and Banks had a \u201creally nice conversation\u201d at BeautyCon.<\/p>\n

\u201cOther than that, we\u2019ve had no communication of any sort, text, email, anything,\u201d he said. \u201cTyra and I were close, and when we were in New York shooting, or even in L.A. shooting, she\u2019d be at my house or I\u2019d be at her house, and we would really download. But at the same time, and she knows this to be true, the things that are those really, really trusted important things that she has said to me, I will never repeat. I will forever honor my relationship with her in the past.\u201d<\/p>\n

Manuel noted that he\u2019s still \u201cvery open\u201d to talking to Banks if she has interest, adding, \u201cI\u2019m in a healed place. I wish her no ill will.\u201d<\/p>\n

The supermodel, 51, revealed Monday, January 20, on Australian morning show Sunrise that she is among the celebrities whose house burned down in the devastating wildfires that began January 7. Manuel and Banks\u2019 friendship rift is addressed<\/a> in Netflix\u2019s Reality Check: Inside America\u2019s Next Top Model<\/em>. Manuel joined America\u2019s Next Top Model<\/em> \u2014 the show that followed aspiring models competing for the title which aired from 2003 to 2018 \u2014 in its first cycle in 2003 as the Creative Director. Banks, meanwhile, appeared on the show as a host.<\/p>\n

In the three-part Netflix special,<\/a> Manuel recalled his realization that he needed to step back from the show after season 8. He broke the news to Banks via email, who replied, \u201cI am disappointed.\u201d Manuel alleged that \u201call communication just stopped,\u201d and he felt pressure to come back to the show for another season.<\/p>\n

Manuel \u2014 along with Barker and Miss J. Alexander \u2014 didn\u2019t return after his contract wasn\u2019t renewed for season 19. He claimed that his and Banks\u2019 issues were intensified when the news of his firing became public.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were going to put out one joint press release, and they said we would all get a quote in this press release,\u201d he recalled. \u201cWe see it all the time in television shows, people saying, \u2018So and so and so and so have decided to part ways.\u2019 And Tyra, she\u2019s like, \u2018We\u2019ll put out in our press release how we\u2019re going to continue to work together.\u2019 So we agreed to that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tWhile Netflix\u2019s America\u2019s Next Top Model docuseries reexamined Shandi Sullivan\u2018s onscreen sexual assault \u2014 including what had to be cut out from the final edit \u2014 executive producer Tyra Banks refused to discuss the incident. During the three-part special, released on Monday, February 16, Sullivan recalled nearly winning season 2 before a group trip to [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

After the group felt like they couldn\u2019t \u201cmove forward in their career with grace,\u201d Manuel, Miss J Alexander and Barker appeared in an interview addressing the firing, where they were asked if they felt \u201cblindsided\u201d by the decision.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had to speak very carefully, contractually at the time,\u201d Manuel shared. \u201cThere are only certain things you could speak about around the production and what you legally could say.\u201d<\/p>\n

Banks, meanwhile, shared her perspective on Manuel\u2019s departure.<\/p>\n
