Alex Vesia<\/strong><\/a> is speaking out for the first time following the death of his newborn daughter.<\/p>\n After the 29-year-old pitcher dropped out of playing<\/a> with his Los Angeles Dodgers teammates in the 2025 World Series<\/em>, he and wife Kayla<\/strong><\/a> revealed in November that their baby girl Sterling <\/strong>had died<\/a>.<\/p>\n In a press conference<\/a> on Friday (February 13), Alex<\/strong> opened up about how he and his wife have been coping with their grief.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span>\u201cThe lessons we\u2019ve learned from this is that life can change in an instant,\u201d Alex<\/strong> shared. \u201cTen minutes is all it took. Sterling Sol was the most beautiful girl in the world. We got to hold her, change her diaper, read to her and love her. Our time together was far too short. Kay and I will keep those precious moments and memories to ourselves.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI hope that anyone listening can empathize and respect our wishes for privacy as we continue to heal and as we navigate the ups and downs of a baseball season,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n Alex<\/strong> went on to share that he and Kayla<\/strong> started therapy about six weeks ago.<\/p>\n \u201cIt hasn\u2019t been easy, but talking to someone has made a difference,\u201d he shared. \u201cI\u2019ve learned that what has happened to us has also happened to so many families. And realizing that has deepened our empathy and our gratitude for this community.\u201d<\/p>\n Also in the press conference, Alex <\/strong>acknowledged all of the love and support he and Kayla<\/strong> have received, admitting it\u2019s made them \u201cvery emotional.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe were super overwhelmed with emotion and the baseball community, the relationships that you make along the way,\u201d he said. \u201cIt showed that it\u2019s much bigger than baseball.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe outpouring of love and support Kay and I have had over the past few months has been unmatched,\u201d he continued. \u201cMy DMs, messages are basically broken on Instagram from all the love \u2026 I\u2019ve tried to read all the comments and everything, just because it\u2019s meant the world.\u201d<\/p>\n Alex<\/strong> also said that he\u2019s been leaning into baseball to help cope with the loss.<\/p>\n \u201cI immediately got back into the gym. I started my throwing program,\u201d he explained. \u201cHaving something to look forward to has helped me. The gym has been my mental clarity. Being around the guys again, preparing for spring training, it\u2019s been really nice. Gotten a lot of love so far in the clubhouse, and being able to laugh and joke around, that\u2019s been really nice for me.\u201d<\/p>\n While he is still working through his grief, Alex<\/strong> emphasized the importance of therapy and encouraged others in similar situations to follow his and Kayla<\/strong>\u2018s lead.<\/p>\n \u201cFor those out there who have lost a child, or are fighting through any struggle, if you can take anything from this: please seek help,\u201d he said. \u201cTalk to somebody. It\u2019s definitely helped Kay and I. Please don\u2019t be afraid to speak up. Your mental health matters.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe baseball community is extremely strong,\u201d he added. \u201cI was not prepared to not bring my baby girl home, but we\u2019re carrying her with us every day. It\u2019s been hard, but we\u2019re doing OK.\u201d<\/p>\n Back in January, Kayla<\/strong> opened up about their loss<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
