Peacock\u2019s version of The Burbs<\/em><\/a> featured murder, a missing persons case and a surprise kidnapping<\/a> that set up for a second season.<\/p>\n

The dark comedy, which premiered on Sunday, February 8, is an adaptation of the 1989 film of the same name<\/a>. After fictional couple \u2014 and new parents \u2014 Samira (Keke Palmer<\/strong>) and Rob (Jack Whitehall<\/strong>) moved to his childhood neighborhood, old secrets resurfaced about his missing friend Allison (Erica Dasher<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

Samira, Rob and his friend Naveen (Kapil Talwalkar<\/strong>) realized Allison wasn\u2019t kidnapped but in hiding because she thought she was a target. They were able to help Allison find the person responsible for the deaths in town, which allowed her to move away.<\/p>\n

Season 1 didn\u2019t end there though because Naveen found himself kidnapped<\/a> before the finale was done.<\/p>\n

\u201cPersonally, I didn\u2019t want him to get out of the trunk,\u201d Whitehall, 37, quipped during an exclusive interview with Us Weekly<\/em>. \u201cWe were winding him up for the whole series that his character was going to get bumped off in the end.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cThen when we got that eighth episode, we were like, \u2018Oh, this is so awkward. Now it might actually happen.\u2019 We couldn\u2019t cope without him so we\u2019ve got to get him back. We\u2019ve got to find our friend, and we\u2019ve got to crack him out of the back of that car.\u201d<\/p>\n

Talwalkar, meanwhile, isn\u2019t too worried about his character\u2019s fate.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI haven\u2019t prepared for Naveen\u2019s funeral yet,\u201d he joked. \u201cI actually have no clue \u2014 I was shocked when I read that.\u201d<\/p>\n

For Palmer, 32, the most shocking part of the season so far was \u201cthe Allison reveal,\u201d with her telling Us, \u201cWe\u2019re trying to find this girl and she was right in front of us the whole time. It was right there. So I love that. But then obviously that leads us to another big underworld that we have to figure out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Looking ahead at season 2, Julia Duffy<\/strong>, who played Lynn, is hopeful about meeting new characters.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe haven\u2019t met my children but there was a line where I mentioned them,\u201d she noted. \u201cWe really want to meet these children.\u201d<\/p>\n

Duffy, 74, pointed out that Jack\u2019s parents haven\u2019t been introduced<\/a>. She also expressed interest in cameos from the original movie\u2019s cast \u2014 starting with Tom Hanks.<\/p>\n
