New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye<\/strong><\/a> struggled to control his emotions after losing the 2026 Super Bowl<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m so proud,\u201d Maye, 23, said in a postgame press conference<\/a> on Sunday, February 8, after the Patriots lost to the Seattle Seahawks 29-13 in Super Bowl LX. \u201cThat\u2019s probably the reason I\u2019m choked up most.\u201d<\/p>\n Maye continued to pause as he answered reporters\u2019 questions while visibly holding back tears.<\/p>\n \u201cThis team is something that I\u2019m just glad to be part of,\u201d he continued, offering a shout-out to the \u201cgreat people\u201d<\/a> who work alongside the Patriots all season.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m just glad to have this uniform on and looking forward to getting back and play [in] another one,\u201d Maye said.<\/p>\n The NFL star looked down and rubbed his eyes before responding to another reporter. While the question was inaudible, Maye replied that it was \u201chard\u201d to compare playing at the Super Bowl to any other regular season game.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a business at this level, but it\u2019s more than that,\u201d he explained. \u201cIt\u2019s more than that in a game like this and that\u2019s about it. It\u2019s more than a business. There\u2019s people in there that are doing it, not for the money or fame and that\u2019s what\u2019s cool about this team.\u201d<\/p>\n Sunday night marked Maye\u2019s first Super Bowl appearance following an impressive season. In his second year on the Patriots, he brought the team to their first Super Bowl in seven years.<\/p>\n There was speculation ahead of the game that Maye wouldn\u2019t take the field on Sunday because of a shoulder injury sustained<\/a> during the playoffs.
