The Norwegian government has accused the Chinese-backed hacking group known as Salt Typhoon<\/a> of breaking into several organizations in the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n In a report<\/a> published on Friday, the Norwegian Police Security Service said the hacking group, believed to be working for the Chinese government, targeted vulnerable network devices to conduct espionage.<\/p>\n Norway is the latest country to confirm a Salt Typhoon-related intrusion.\u00a0<\/p>\n Salt Typhoon<\/a>, which senior U.S. national security officials have described as an \u201cepoch-defining threat,\u201d has for years stealthily hacked into the networks of critical infrastructure organizations around the world, including telecom providers<\/a> in Canada<\/a> and the United States, where they allegedly intercepted the communications of senior politicians. This series of breaches put pressure<\/a> on telcos to improve their security<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n The report did not provide many details about the hacking campaign targeting the country.
