Whoopi Goldberg: ‘I’m not good at relationships’<\/p>\n
The View host has been single for several decades since her 1995 divorce from actor Lyle Trachtenberg and Whoopi insisted that she no longer has any interest in sharing her life with a partner.<\/p>\n
She told Interview magazine: \u201cIn the last 25 years, I have seen that not everybody\u2019s cut out to be in a relationship. Some people are just cut out to be one-night stands.<\/p>\n
“I don\u2019t want to live with anybody. I lived with my daughter. That\u2019s all I can handle. I have lots of people that I love, but I don\u2019t need them living with me. I don\u2019t need to be sleeping with them.\u201d<\/p>\n
Whoopi \u2013 who has daughter Alex, 51, with first husband Alvin Martin \u2013 was also married to David Claessen from 1986 to 1988 before her third marriage to Trachtenberg in 1994 and she admitted she doesn\u2019t enjoy thinking about a partner and their needs.<\/p>\n
\nThe Sister Act actress said: \u201cI\u2019m not good at relationships, because you have to think about other people, and I have enough to think about with my daughter and her husband and my grandkids and my great-grandkids and all the people at work.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI don\u2019t necessarily get lonely because there\u2019s enough people around who don\u2019t let me. <\/p>\n
\n“But most people are not comfortable being alone because we\u2019ve been taught that there\u2019s something wrong with you if you\u2019re not a pair, that being singular, eating singular, is a bad thing.<\/p>\n
\n“Sometimes you don\u2019t want to eat with other people. Sometimes you just want to go and have some pasta. You don\u2019t want to say, ‘Do you want red wine or white wine?’ I don\u2019t give a f*** what you want.”<\/p>\n
\nAnd Ghost actress Whoopi, 70, has previously admitted she didn\u2019t want a relationship as she doesn\u2019t want to \u201cshare money\u201d.<\/p>\n
\nShe told The Tamron Hall Show in 2019: \u201cPeople keep saying, \u2018Well, you\u2019ll find somebody.’ I\u2019m not looking for anyone. I am very happy. I don\u2019t want to live with anybody.<\/p>\n
\n“For me, there is a commitment. When you make a commitment to someone else, it\u2019s a commitment to ask their opinion and listen, and work it out with them. I don\u2019t want to do that.<\/p>\n
\n“I don\u2019t want to share money. I know it\u2019s terrible, but I don\u2019t want to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n
