Kit Harington<\/a> feels “very lucky” to be married to Rose Leslie.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
Kit Harington has opened up about his marriage to Rose Leslie<\/p>\n
The pair met while starring in hit fantasy show Game Of Thrones and went on to marry in 2018 before becoming parents to two children together and Kit has now opened up about their relationship which he describes as “very loving” and credits Rose with being there for him “through all of the hard stuff”.<\/p>\n
He told Mr. Porter: “We\u2019re very loving and tactile, and we make sure we tell each other that we love each other. Rose is just the most genuine soul. I\u2019m very, very lucky. I really am. And Rose was there through all of the hard stuff, and she\u2019s been through some journeys with me. But it has truly worked out.”<\/p>\n
He went on to talk about the couple’s children revealing he’s pleased to have started a family in his 30s.<\/p>\n
Kit said: “They\u2019re both awake to the world and they\u2019re kind. They are all I want from my children. I have been blessed with two who have both those attributes in spades. <\/p>\n
\n“Fatherhood happened at just the right time. And I think I\u2019m good at being a dad. My son was born when I was 34 and I realised the other day that when he\u2019s 20, I\u2019ll only be 54. That\u2019s not so old.<\/p>\n
\n“I\u2019m in a weird moment in my life where, at 39, I\u2019m the same age my mum was when she had me. And I\u2019m in charge of these two. <\/p>\n
\n“I\u2019m midway through my life. You used to think of your parents\u2019 lives before you came along as being this thing that stretched back to ancient times, but at this point, I\u2019m like, no, it really didn\u2019t. I feel like I\u2019ve hardly started. I feel very grounded. And I\u2019m beating myself up less about stuff.”<\/p>\n
\nKit went through some tough times after shooting to fame in Games of Thrones, struggling with addiction issues and spending time in rehab before getting sober.<\/p>\n
\nIn an interview in 2021, the actor admitted he battled feelings of shame before embracing change.<\/p>\n
\nHe told The Sunday Times newspaper: “Things that have happened to me since Thrones ended, and that were happening during Thrones, were of a pretty traumatic nature and they did include alcohol.<\/p>\n
\n“You get to a place where you feel like you are a bad person, you feel like you are a shameful person. And you feel that there’s no way out, that’s just who you are. And getting sober is the process of going: ‘No, I can change.’ “<\/p>\n
\nIn a later interview with GQ Hype Kit admitted he is glad he ditched alcohol before he started a family, saying: “I was so lucky I got sober before having kids …<\/p>\n
\n“The very fact that I can be proud of it is an achievement. Because before getting sober, I would stare in the mirror and call myself a c***. I’d hate myself. <\/p>\n
\n“I would literally despise myself and not be proud of anything I’d done. I couldn’t be proud. <\/p>\n
\n“So the fact that I am proud of getting sober is in and of itself a mark of being an entirely different person.”<\/p>\n
