Tracy Spiridakos<\/strong><\/a> and Jesse Lee Soffer<\/strong><\/a> are finally returning to Chicago P.D.<\/em><\/a> after their respective exits led to Upton and Halstead\u2019s shocking split.<\/a><\/p>\n

NBC announced on Wednesday, February 4, that Spiridakos, 37, and Soffer, 41, are reuniting in the three-part One Chicago<\/em> crossover special. According to the synopsis for the Wednesday, March 4, episode, Upton \u201creturns to her former stomping grounds, but this time on the federal level as a Special Agent of the FBI.\u201d She \u201cjoins her former P.D. allies after a drug enforcement task force case out of her Detroit field office leads her back to Chicago.\u201d<\/p>\n

Halstead, for his part, \u201ctook a job with the Army in Bolivia, tracking drug cartel targets.\u201d Most recently, \u201che\u2019s been deep undercover that leads him on a path to the same case that Upton is investigating.\u201d<\/p>\n

The upcoming episode marks<\/a> Soffer\u2019s first onscreen return since his departure during season 10. The actor has since come back to direct three episodes of Chicago P.D.<\/em> while Spiridakos departed the show in season 11.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIf there\u2019s one thing Dick Wolf isn\u2019t afraid of, it\u2019s killing off a beloved character. A fact that fans of the One Chicago universe know all too well. The franchise kicked off in 2012 with Chicago Fire. Chicago P.D. was added in 2014 and Chicago Med debuted in 2015. The cast of each show has [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI decided at the end of my sixth season (a.k.a. season 10 of the series),\u201d she told Variety in May 2024. \u201cWhich is when I had reached out to [showrunner] Gwen [Sigan] and to everyone at Wolf to let them know that I just wanted to do one more year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Spiridakos said the decision was \u201cvery, very hard,\u201d adding, \u201cI was just curious what was out there for me and wanted to switch it up, and that was it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Halstead and Upton ultimately got a divorce due to their actors\u2019<\/a> respective exits. Despite the sad ending on screen, Spiridakos posted a sweet message after Soffer\u2019s exit.<\/p>\n

Spiridakos and Soffer have since sparked romance rumors but have opted to remain largely tight-lipped about their relationship status. Spiridakos is next set to star on USA Network\u2019s Anna Pigeon<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Soffer, meanwhile, remained in the Dick Wolf world after scoring a role as Wes on FBI: International<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe One Chicago franchise is known for its frequent exits at this point, but Sophia Bush and more stars have not slowed down since walking away from Chicago P.D., Chicago Fire or Chicago Med. Bush, for one, spoke out about her departure from Chicago P.D. after season 4. \u201cI realized that as I was thinking [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cOn [Chicago] P.D., Halstead had a lot of baggage by the end of 10 seasons,\u201d Soffer exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> in October 2024 of his former detective character. \u201cThere\u2019s someone [who has] gone through a lot of traumatic stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n

Soffer teased how Wes was \u201ctotally new\u201d<\/a> with a \u201cdifferent demeanor\u201d and a \u201cdifferent attitude.\u201d<\/p>\n
