During a Q&A at London\u2019s Prince Charles Cinema on Sunday, Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet said that he spent “over six figures out of my pocket” so he could be the musical guest for his January 2025 SNL appearance. Lorne originally asked if he wanted to host, and Timoth\u00e9e said yes but he asked if he could also be the musical guest for the same episode. Lorne said no, but Timoth\u00e9e said he refused to take no for an answer. Timoth\u00e9e paid for production expenses for the musical performance (the band and construction of the set) which are usually covered by a record label.<\/p>\n
Timoth\u00e9e said that the things he does to promote his movies aren’t PR: “I really don\u2019t look at it as promotion or marketing. I see myself as an artist expanding.” He went on to say: “I\u2019m trying to reach audiences, you know. I don\u2019t want to be in the pretentious in-crowd….So the most pretentious answer I could give you, which I actually honestly feel, is that it\u2019s not marketing or promotion. That sounds like a gimmick, and this is not a gimmick. This is coming from my heart and my soul.”<\/p>\n
When asked if he wants to win an Oscar for Marty Supreme, he said: “Listen, yes. But I want to give you context for that, because sometimes I feel like I\u2019ve been misinterpreted in my quest. All these award things, they supplement the movie. I\u2019m not going to turn this into a monologue about the crisis of theaters and stuff, but when you go to an awards show, everyone\u2019s participating in an advertisement for each other \u2014 in the best sense of the word, I\u2019m not saying that in a malicious way. I\u2019m supporting \u2018Hamnet\u2019 and \u2018One Battle After Another\u2019 the way anyone in those movies is supporting \u2018Marty Supreme.\u2019 So anything else, yes, it helps to feed into the narrative \u2026 everyone\u2019s pursuing it, you know?. I didn\u2019t explain myself well there. I don\u2019t want it to be misinterpreted that the world is in the condition it\u2019s in and I\u2019m going to bed like, \u2018Fuck man, I need that [Oscar].\u2019 You know, I\u2019m living on planet Earth.”<\/p>\n
On preparing for roles: “I feel like Method energy, that\u2019s kind of my thing. So that just means being in the tone of the film \u2026 I think anything too calculated \u2014 some actors are like that, that\u2019s not really my style.” <\/p>\n
When asked if he and Kylie Jenner will ever get married, he said, “Wow, that\u2019s so personal. Yeah, no \u2014 you\u2019re going to get me in trouble, man.” <\/p>\n
