Savannah Guthrie has spoken out after her mother was reported missing<\/p>\n
The Today Show anchor – who didn’t appear on the NBC morning show on Monday (02.02.26) – has spoken out after her 84-year-old mother Nancy Guthrie was reported missing over the weekend.<\/p>\n
In a statement given to the programme, she said: “On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support.<\/p>\n
“Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear Nancy.<\/p>\n
“We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case, and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.”<\/p>\n
\nNancy has been missing since around 9:45pm on Saturday (31.02.26) in Arizona, and authorities have launched an extensive search after she was reported missing around noon the following day.<\/p>\n
\nOn Sunday (01.02.26), the Pima County Sheriff’s Department revealed she had last been seen at her residence in the Catalina Foothills area.<\/p>\n
\nIn a briefing later in the day, Sheriff Chris Nanos said: “We hope we find her safe and sound, but we are very concerned.”<\/p>\n
\nHe explained that foul play could not be ruled out due to “concerning evidence”, but did not elaborate.<\/p>\n
\nHe explained: “You don’t typically get the sheriff out at a scene like this, but it’s very concerning what we’re learning from the house.<\/p>\n
\n“This one stood out because of what was described to us at the scene and what we found and located just in looking at the scene.”<\/p>\n
\nAlthough Nanos wouldn’t reveal what was found at the home, he did confirm that homicide detectives have been called.<\/p>\n
\nHe added: “It’s not standard. Typically, our homicide team comes out when we have a homicide, a body.<\/p>\n
\n“This one was done simply because of what the surveyors were telling us.”<\/p>\n
\nThe search has included ground crews with headlamps, dog teams, the Sheriff’s Department plane, and drones, while deputies also checked in with hospitals and medical transport teams.<\/p>\n
\nWhile Nancy has no cognitive issues, she is considered a “vulnerable adult” due to her age and physical mobility.<\/p>\n
\nNanos explained: “Miss Guthrie is 84 years old and is not in good physical health.<\/p>\n
\n“She has no cognitive issues at all \u2014 just some physical ailments that limit her ability to move around.”<\/p>\n
