Catherine O’Hara’s Schitt’s Creek co-stars pay tribute<\/p>\n
Following Catherine\u2019s sudden death last week at the age of 71, Annie \u2013 who played Alexis Rose opposite Catherine\u2019s iconic alter-ego Moira Rose in the TV comedy \u2013 took to Instagram to remember her late co-star and friend.<\/p>\n
She wrote: \u201cHa-ha-HAAAA?!?! Her laugh was a perpetual Yes, And\u2026 It challenged anyone who heard it to join in, and be as delighted as she was. It challenged anyone who heard it to join in, and be as delighted as she was. Gosh, were we ever lucky to have her.\u201d<\/p>\n
She also shared a note about what she had learned from working with Catherine.<\/p>\n
She wrote: \u201cShe would have never presumed to call herself a teacher (too self-deprecating, too Canadian), but holy f***, was I ever a student. Here are a few Coles Notes for those who want to study.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cGiggles always. Jokes first. As long as they feel right in your bones. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cWhen you find the people you love and make you laugh, stick with your lovers and laughers. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cEverybody on set is a part of a community who (ideally) wants to make something great \u2013 treat them as such. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cMake suggestions, even if that means overstepping sometimes. Acknowledge if it doesn\u2019t work. Be appreciate to this who appreciate when it does.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nSchitt\u2019s Creek co-creator and star Dan Levy also paid tribute, writing: \u201cWhat a gift to have gotten to dance in the warm glow of Catherine O\u2019Hara\u2019s brilliance for all those years.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cHaving spent over fifty years collaborating with my Dad, Catherine was extended family before she ever played my family. It\u2019s hard to imagine a world without her in it. I will cherish every funny memory I was fortunate enough to make with her.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHe added: \u201cMy heart goes out to Bo, Matthew, Luke and every member of her big, beautiful family.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nAnd, his father Eugene Levy \u2013 who played Moira\u2019s husband Johnny Rose and had worked with Catherine in various projects since the 1970s \u2013 also remembered his late friend.<\/p>\n
\nHe told Us Weekly, he said: \u201cWords seem inadequate to express the loss I feel today. I had the honour of knowing and working with the great Catherine O\u2019Hara for over fifty years.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cFrom our beginnings on the Second City stage, to SCTV, to the movies we did with Chris Guest, to our six glorious years on Schitt\u2019s Creek, I cherished our working relationship, but most of all our friendship.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHe concluded: \u201cAnd I will miss her. My heart goes out to Bo, Matthew, Luke, and the entire O\u2019Hara family.\u201d<\/p>\n
