\t\t<\/p>\n Rachel McAdams<\/strong><\/a> was initially told she was \u201ctoo old\u201d to play the role she wanted in Mean Girls<\/em>.<\/p>\n The 47-year-old actress is currently promoting her new movie Send Help<\/strong><\/a><\/em> and reflecting on her iconic career. She spoke about how when she initially auditioned for the Tina Fey<\/strong><\/a> comedy, she was going out for the part of Cady, a role that eventually went to Lindsay Lohan<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI remember thinking, \u2018This is a futile exercise. I will never be hired for Cady,\u2019\u201d she told People<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n But she was so impressed with the script, she was willing to take any role. <\/p>\n Luckily for Rachel<\/strong>, director Mark Waters<\/strong> thought she had potential as the movie\u2019s main villain, Regina George.<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re too old to play Cady, but you\u2019re just right for Regina,\u201d she remembers him saying. \u201cRegina has been around the block a few times and maybe has a, I don\u2019t know if I\u2019d call her an old soul, but she\u2019s got a few more miles on her than Cady,\u201d Rachel<\/strong> continued. \u201cSo I took it as a compliment.\u201d<\/p>\n The Notebook<\/em> star recently wore a form-fitting sequin dress to the Send Help<\/em> premiere.
