The Home Alone star passed away on Friday (30.01.26), at the age of 71, following a “brief illness,” and an obituary shared with Just Jared has revealed her family, which includes her husband Bo Welch and their sons, Matthew and Luke, will host a memorial in private.<\/p>\n
It said: \u201cA private celebration of life will be held by the family.”<\/p>\n
No cause of death is known at this time.<\/p>\n
An ambulance was called out to the actress’ Brentwood home just before 5am on the morning of her death, and she was reported to be in a \u201cserious condition”. She passed away in a Los Angeles hospital.<\/p>\n
\nTributes have flooded in for the Beetlejuice legend.<\/p>\n
\nHer on-screen son in Home Alone, Macaulay Culkin, paid a heartfelt tribute to Catherine.<\/p>\n
\nThe 45-year-old actor posted two throwback photos of himself and Catherine and wrote on Instagram: “Mama.<\/p>\n
\n“I thought we had time.<\/p>\n
\n“I wanted more.<\/p>\n
\n“I wanted to sit in a chair next to you.<\/p>\n
\n“I heard you.<\/p>\n
\n“But I had so much more to say.<\/p>\n
\n“I love you.<\/p>\n
\n“I\u2019ll see you later. (sic)”<\/p>\n
\nOne of the photos was taken during the time Macaulay and Catherine starred together in the Home Alone film franchise. The second photo was taken in 2023, when the late actress attended Macaulay’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony.<\/p>\n
\nPedro Pascal also took to social media to heap praise on his former co-star.<\/p>\n
\nThe actor – who starred alongside Catherine in The Last of Us – wrote on Instagram: “Oh, genius to be near you. Eternally grateful. \u00a0There is less light in my world, this lucky world that had you, will keep you, always. \u00a0Always [heart emoji]<\/p>\n
\n“The one and ONLY #CatherineOHara (sic)”<\/p>\n
\nHer Beetlejuice co-star Michael Keaton said: “We go back before the first Beetlejuice.<\/p>\n
\n“She\u2019s been my pretend wife, my pretend nemesis and my real life, true friend.<\/p>\n
\n“This one hurts. Man am I gonna miss her. Thinking about Beau as well. (sic)”<\/p>\n
\nJustin Theroux, who appeared in 2024\u2019s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, also paid tribute to the actress.<\/p>\n
\nHe\u00a0wrote on Instagram: “Oh Catherine. You will be so so missed (sic)”<\/p>\n
