Lindsey Vonn<\/strong><\/a> was airlifted off the course after a crash in Switzerland, just days before she is scheduled to make her miraculous return to the Olympics<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Vonn, 41, lost control during her World Cup Race in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, on Friday, January 30, eventually ending up tangled in the course\u2019s safety nets.<\/span><\/p>\n

After receiving medical assistance on the course for roughly five minutes, she skied down to the finish line, clearly in pain. Vonn was forced to stop multiple times, grabbing at her left knee.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Near the finish line, Vonn made her way into the medical tent before being airlifted away by a helicopter.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tEric Dane has Olympic alpine skier Lindsey Vonn\u2019s support as he advocates for patients like himself who are living with ALS. \u201cThank you for raising awareness,\u201d Vonn, 40, wrote under a video the actor shared on Monday, September 15, announcing his partnership with I Am ALS. \u201cYou are showing great strength. My mother would thank [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Vonn \u201chad an anxious expression and her eyes were closed during a long embrace with teammate Jacqueline Wiles<\/strong>\u201d before she was transported off the course, according to ESPN<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Two other skiers also crashed on the course before Vonn, as the race was held under intense weather conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t see and it\u2019s bumpy everywhere,\u201d said France\u2019s Romane Miradoli<\/strong>, who managed to finish her run without incident.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The race was canceled after Vonn\u2019s crash.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI know she hurt her knee, I talked to her,\u201d International Ski and Snowboard Federation CEO Urs Lehmann<\/strong> told reporters on site. \u201cI don\u2019t know if it\u2019s really heavy and [if] she won\u2019t miss the Olympics. Let\u2019s wait for what the doctors are saying.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

It is not immediately clear if the incident will impact Vonn\u2019s participation in the upcoming 2026 Winter Games in Italy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Vonn\u2019s first scheduled event is the women\u2019s downhill on Sunday, February 8. She is also planning on competing in the super-G and the new team combined event.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The 2026 Winter Olympics officially get underway on Wednesday, February 4, with the Opening Ceremony taking place on Friday, February 6.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Vonn, a three-time Olympic medallist, last competed in the Games in 2018. She announced her return to alpine skiing in November 2024 just months after having a partial knee replacement.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland announced on Thursday, January 29, that they granted part of Chiles\u2019 appeal. \u201cIn the highly exceptional circumstances of the case in question, it considers that there is a [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cAfter a lot of thought, research and talking to many many doctors, I made the decision to get a knee replacement,\u201d Vonn shared via Instagram<\/a> in April 2024. \u201cI have severe tri-compartment degeneration but the main compartment that has been painful is the lateral compartment, or the outside of my knee.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
