Sydney Sweeney is focused on her acting career<\/p>\n
\nThe 28-year-old actress believes she’s become a “pawn” in political circles in recent months – but Sydney insists she’s focused on her acting career, rather than political issues.<\/p>\n
\nThe blonde beauty – who has become one of the most talked-about actresses in Hollywood in recent years – told Cosmopolitan magazine: “I’ve never been here to talk about politics. I\u2019ve always been here to make art, so this is just not a conversation I want to be at the forefront of. And I think because of that, people want to take it even further and use me as their own pawn. But it’s somebody else assigning something to me, and I can\u2019t control that.”<\/p>\n
\nAsked why she doesn’t correct assumptions made about her, Sydney replied: “I haven\u2019t figured it out. I\u2019m not a hateful person. If I say, ‘That\u2019s not true,’ they\u2019ll come at me like, ‘You\u2019re just saying that to look better.’ There\u2019s no winning. There\u2019s never any winning.<\/p>\n
\n“I just have to continue being who I am, because I know who I am. I can\u2019t make everyone love me. I know what I stand for.”<\/p>\n
\nDespite this, Sydney insists that she’s “not a political person”.<\/p>\n
\nThe actress explained: “I\u2019m in the arts. I\u2019m not here to speak on politics. That\u2019s not an area I\u2019ve ever even imagined getting into. It\u2019s not why I became who I am. <\/p>\n
\n“I became an actor because I like to tell stories, but I don\u2019t believe in hate in any form. I believe we should all love each other and have respect and understanding for one another.”<\/p>\n
\nSydney was previously criticised for her role in an American Eagle advertising campaign, which played on the words “jeans” and “genes”.<\/p>\n
\nIn the campaign video, the actress – who has blonde hair and blue eyes – says: “Genes that are passed from parent to offspring often determine traits such as hair colour, personality and even eye colour.”<\/p>\n
\nSydney concluded the segment by looking into the camera and saying: “My jeans are blue.”<\/p>\n
